It was the first time that something she’d said while dating someone was remembered, or technically the second since he’d taken her to the archery range without her having to bring it up as a reminder.
Yeah, he’d been correct when he said it at the bowling alley. She’d been dating pussies.

Killian stepped out of the shower, grabbing a towel. He wrapped it around his waist before taking another and running it over his wet hair. He glanced at the clock to see what time it was. He was due at Journee’s house at six. She had a lunch she’d planned for a company but anticipated it being done by four.
Killian figured he’d give her a couple of hours to herself before he headed over. They were making dinner together and then were going to watch a movie. He planned to pick up the ingredients on his way, and Journee was choosing the movie.
When he originally picked up the phone to propose a stay-in date that morning, he considered inviting her to his hotel suite. However, while he’d been on the phone, he gave her the option of choosing. Killian was sure she would choose her house, considering it was where she’d be most comfortable.
He had plans to spend the rest of the weekend with her. She didn’t have any events tomorrow, so they’d spend the rest of the day and Sunday together.
He went to the closet and pulled out a pair of black jeans and a deep red sweater. Killian placed them on the bed before returning to the closet and grabbing shoes.
He hung the towel he’d been using on his hair around his neck, went over to the dresser, and pulled out a pair of boxer briefs and socks. He tossed his towel, slipped into his boxers, and tossed the socks on the bed. He grabbed his lotion off the dresser to moisturize.
When he finished, he placed the closed bottle to the side, grabbed the socks, and pulled them on. Killian dressed before packing everything he’d need for his sleepover in his carry-on, spraying his cologne before placing it in the bag.
Once done, he entered the living room, grabbed his rental keys, wallet, and room key off the bar top, and left the room.
When he pulled up to the grocery store, Killian went inside to grab everything they’d need for dinner. He also had plans to stop by a liquor store and grab a couple of bottles of wine to pair with what he had planned for them to cook.
Killian made his way around the store, grabbing everything he needed and a few things he didn’t before checking out and heading back outside. He loaded the bags into the backseat before going to the liquor store.
Once he had both bottles of wine, he drove to Journee’s house, pulling in front of her mailbox at six on the dot.
Killian grabbed the bags from the grocery store and the wine. He’d come back and grab his bag later. He walked to the front door and rang the doorbell. He didn’t have to wait long before the door swung open. Journee stood on the other side, smiling at him. She tried to take some of the bags from him, but Killian moved them out of her reach.
“I got it, baby.” He then leaned down and kissed her softly.
When they pulled apart, Journee stepped aside and let him in the house before closing the door behind them. She then led him to the kitchen, where he placed the sacks on the counter.
“How’d your lunch event go?” Killian questioned as they began to pull items from the sacks.
“It was…an event. I got the feeling that most people there didn’t want to be and were showing up because it may have been mandatory,” Journee responded.
“The company isn’t normally open on Saturday?”
“No. They’re typically closed but used this lunch as an opportunity to call a meeting and implement some changes. Changes that I don’t think their employees appreciated.”
Killian placed both bottles of wine in the refrigerator. “That’s never a good idea. They’ll see that when they start losing employees.”
Journee hummed in acknowledgment as she nodded. “How was your day? Did you get to start on the new training plan for the security expansion?”
“I worked on it a bit, but I haven’t set the timeline for the training yet or decided what’s focused on each week,” Killian responded. “Then there’s scheduling each training once it’s finalized.”
“You could conduct a training camp if you can find enough trainers with the necessary qualifications. Get more of them trained at one time.”
Killian hadn’t thought about that, knowing Ace preferred to be hands-on when training the people they’d employed. But having multiple trainers conduct a training camp would give them more employees ready at once.
“That’s a good idea, Tigress. I’ll run it by my partners.”
Journee smiled at him, and Killian was glad they weren’t on the battlefield because that smile could have been a weapon, and she would have just taken him out with it. Reaching out, he gripped her chin, kissing her again. This time, a little deeper than he had at the door.
When they pulled apart, she placed her hands on his chest. “So, what are we cooking?” she asked.
“I’ll show you,” Killian responded, pulling her to stand in front of him. It’d been a while since he’d cooked with someone. Let alone someone he was dating because, at this point, they’d moved past physical pursuit, and he had no objections to that.
