“We’re married,” Killian told her.
“You can tell the other waitress that as well,” Axel stated, inclining his head toward the waitress, watching them from across the room. He then turned his attention to Killian. “Ready, babe?”
“Mhm,” Killian responded to keep himself from laughing because when he stated they were married, he had not meant to each other. It shouldn’t have surprised him his best friend took it there. It wasn’t the first time. “Have a good night,” Killian told her as they headed out the door.
They’d barely gotten in the car before the two of them were laughing. “I swear you’re hell,” Killian spoke.
“You have no room to talk,” Axel countered. “Now, come on. Take me home, babe.”
Killian rolled his eyes, chuckling before starting the car and heading towards Axel’s house.
Once he’d dropped his friend off, Killian returned to the hotel and went up to his suite. It was almost one in the morning, and he figured a hot shower would be exactly what he needed before going to bed.
As the water heated up, Killian stripped out of his clothes, placing them in the room’s hamper. He stepped into the shower and allowed the water to cascade over him. As he did, his mind returned to the look in Journee’s eyes that night at the bar when he told her all she had to do was ask him, and he’d give her exactly what she wanted. Remembering that look sent blood flowing to his dick.
His first thought was to take care of it, but Killian decided against it. Instead, he thought of anything he could to make it go down because if it got uncomfortably hard, there would be no getting rid of it until he found release.
Once he’d managed to get rid of his erection, he decided to file it in the back of his head along with any other ones he got because of the woman he was attempting to pursue. He’d let them all fuel him the first time he slid inside her.
Smirking to himself, Killian began to shower, knowing he would need an entire night and then some when it happened.

Journee triple-checked that she had everything she needed for her upcoming meeting. It was due to start in ten minutes, and this could make a significant difference for her business. She ensured the Bluetooth projector was ready with her presentation and pointed towards the designated wall. When she first moved into her small office space, Journee had considered getting a projection screen. However, she instead decided to paint the furthest wall and project onto it.
She glanced at the clock again and noticed that only a couple of minutes had gone by since she last looked at it. Ten o’clock was not in a hurry to arrive. It also didn’t help that she kept looking out of her office door synchronously with looking at the clock. That was more so to ensure she didn’t miss the front door opening.
Journee had a receptionist that worked part-time in the afternoons; that way, she could go around and meet with businesses in town. Take them treats and leave them some information to contact her to plan their future events.
Deciding that she would make some coffee to go with the assortment of muffins and breakfast pastries that Kaydence had been kind enough to bring half an hour ago; Journee figured it would kill the rest of the time.
She heard the light bell tone go off as the front door to her office building was opened. Taking a deep breath, she stepped into the hallway and almost halted in her tracks as she looked over the two people that had just walked in.
The woman was wearing a pair of high waist wide-legged navy pants with a black long sleeve dip-neck shirt. Journee couldn’t see the shoes she was wearing but got the impression they were probably expensive. Her hair was pulled up on top of her head in a curly bun, her make-up simple but flawless, with studs in her ears that probably had a price tag betraying their simplicity.
The man she was with gave off an aura that reminded her a lot of what she felt when she had been around Killian, and he was fine. Journee wasn’t one to ogle other women’s men, but she could admit when she saw a good-looking one, and he was definitely that. He was dressed opposite the woman, wearing black slacks and a navy button-up. The watch on his wrist probably cost more than her yearly space lease.
Taking the two of them in together, Journee found that they complemented each other, and she mildly wondered if they were real.
“Hi,” the woman greeted. “Journee, correct?”
Snapping out of her millisecond musings, Journee smiled at them. “Yes. You must be Alijah and Kieran?” She held her hand out for both of them to shake.
“Yes. I apologize for the surprise visitor. He decided he wanted to come at the last minute,” Alijah spoke, cutting her eyes at Kieran.
“It’s not a problem,” Journee assured her. “Please, come into my office.”
She led the two of them into her office and gestured for them to have a seat in the designated presentation area, offering them the treats Kaydence had made and coffee.
“Yes, please. Kieran almost made us late, and I didn’t get to have breakfast.”
Journee found herself laughing as the mentioned man snorted and asked her for some coffee.
Once they were both situated with their goodies, Journee began her presentation. Following the answers Alijah gave her to the concept survey, Journee asked all her potential clients to fill out. As much as Journee was sure the other woman could spend on the wedding, she had simple tastes.
When Journee finished her presentation, she was prepared for them to ask her to see more of the events she’d planned. She had several on her website, but she knew that sometimes seeing things in person gave a person a better view of them.
“I like many of the palettes and concepts you came up with,” Alijah spoke. “I want to know a bit more about the breakdown you mentioned in the presentation.”
