Killian chuckled as he turned on the signal light to switch lanes. “You know, if people don’t go investigate things, then nothing new can be discovered.”
“I don’t need to investigate whether or not people are dying somewhere. Common sense tells me that’s not my business because I didn’t choose a career in law enforcement.”
“You’re telling me curiosity has never gotten the best of you?” Killian teasingly questioned.
“Of course, it has when I knew that curiosity wouldn’t kill the cat because if it did, that cat would have to see me and give me my fade.”
Killian found himself chuckling again. “Tigress, from that, I doubt you’ve ever let curiosity sway you,” he told her, stopping at a traffic light.
“I did.Youpiqued my curiosity.”
“Mm,” Killian hummed as he looked over at her. “Then you lied.” When Journee furrowed her brow, he continued. “Because I kill that cat every time,” he finished with a smirk, throwing a wink her way.
Journee laughed as she shook her head. “I can’t disagree with you.”
He turned his attention back to the road, the traffic light turning green a few seconds later. They continued to the restaurant, and he asked about the twins’ birthday. He knew that all the women had gotten together and gone out, but that was the extent of his knowledge on the matter.
Asking about their birthday had Killian thinking about Journee’s coming up next month. He wasn’t sure what he wanted to get her, but he’d start looking when he got back home.
When they pulled into the restaurant’s parking lot, Killian found a spot closest to the door. He got out, going around to open Journee’s door for her, and they headed inside. He gave the host his name, and they were led to a table.
“Baby,” Journee called, and Killian looked up from his menu to find her smirking at him. “Are you going to let me pay for dinner tonight?”
“Do you remember how this conversation went the last time we were here?” he questioned.
“I do.”
“Then you’re prepared for me to lay you on this table and feast on you in front of all these people.” Killian placed his menu on the table.
“If I say yes?” Journee asked, biting her bottom lip.
Killian knew she was replaying their previous conversation, but he decided to switch it up a little. He pushed the menu he’d sat in front of him to the side.
“Come sit on the table. I don’t mind having dessert first. I prefer it when it’s your sweet, little pussy.” Killian licked his lips before smirking at her when she shifted in her seat.
“You don’t play fair,” she told him.
“You started it, baby.”
“Hm. I did, didn’t I? I guess that means you should finish it when we leave.”
Killian had no problem with that. Once he returned home, he wouldn’t see her again for another month. So, he would indulge in every inch of her, every aspect of her, until he left.

Killian exhaled as he lowered himself on the pull-up bar before doing another. He’d conducted his training and finished his paperwork early. So, he’d decided to work out before leaving for the day. No one else was in there; most preferred to work out early in the morning or after their shifts.
He heard footsteps before the person entered the room, and he glanced at the door to find a private walking in. She stopped when she saw him, and Killian didn’t miss how her eyes roamed over his chest and abdomen. He’d begun to sweat halfway through his workout and took his shirts off.
“Major Stoll,” she greeted with a salute. “I didn’t know anyone was in here.”
Killian did two more pull-ups before dropping to the floor. “At ease, private. I was finishing up.”
He walked over to where he’d placed his shirts. He could feel her eyes on him the entire time, and Killian refrained from rolling his. He supposed that he couldn’t be too irritated by it. It wasn’t as if she was making a pass at him. She was settling for ogling. He was her superior, and he would still be uninterested even if he weren’t. He was in a relationship and planned on keeping it that way.
Pulling his shirt on, Killian rolled his shoulders and pulled the shirt away from his abdomen as it stuck to him. He could shower on base but always preferred to do it at home unless he was pulling a long shift.
He went to his office to grab his things before leaving. He only had ten minutes left of his shift, but by the time he exited the building and swiped his ID to go, it would be five-thirty. Killian made sure everything was locked up as he left.
