“Nah, stay here with me.”

Journee laughed. “You’re being awfully clingy,” she teased him.

Killian looked up at her. “Eight weeks, Tigress. I’m making up for lost time, but even if I was. So.”

“I already rescheduled with your mom and Ziggy once because you wanted me to stay with you yesterday. I’ll only be gone a few hours, and Ziggy will be here in an hour to pick me up.”

Killian conceded after a moment with a groan and rolled off of her. She got out of bed and went into the bathroom, locking the door behind her. Him joining her in the shower and having her running late was something she knew for a fact he would do, and she didn’t want to take that risk.

Turning the shower on, she allowed it to heat up as she pulled the shirt she was wearing off and tossed it into the hamper. She brushed her teeth before stepping into the shower. Sure enough, a few minutes into it, she heard the door handle jiggle and shook her head.

Once she finished her shower, she grabbed her towel and dried off before wrapping it around her. Stepping out of the bathroom, she found Killian looking through his closet. He pulled out a forest green polo and hung it on the back of the door. She figured he planned on getting out of the house while she was gone.

The sundress she’d planned to wear was still hanging on the bedroom door since she’d ended up calling and rescheduling. Journee grabbed a bra and a pair of panties from her suitcase and slipped into them before grabbing her body butter off his dresser. She sat on the bed and began to rub it into her skin. She learned it was one of Killian’s favorites. So, she wasn’t surprised when he came over after choosing his clothes, leaned down, and kissed her neck, inhaling the fragrance.

He walked into the bathroom, and the water in the shower turned on. A second later, the sink faucet began to run. She closed the body butter, put it back, and walked into the bathroom, pulling her hair from the messy bun atop her head. Killian passed her brush and edge control to her on the other side of the sink.

Journee grabbed the wide-tooth comb in front of her and ran it through her hair. They were having lunch and doing a little shopping, and she decided to put her hair back up. He stepped into the shower as she was slicking her edges.

She’d finished her hair, dressed, and was putting concealer on to hide the bags he’d caused under her eyes over the past thirty-eight hours when he walked back into the bedroom. A towel wrapped around his waist, and she couldn’t help but stop and admire him for a moment. Damn, he was fine, and he was all hers.

After blending the concealer in, She put on soft mauve lipstick. She grabbed the necklace he’d bought her for Christmas off the dresser and turned to him.

“Will you put this on for me?”

He took it from her, clasping it around her neck when she turned, and Journee thanked him as her phone signaled she had a text. She saw that it was from Ziggy, stating she was outside, and she grabbed her purse off the door handle, putting her phone inside.

“Ziggy’s here. So, I’m going to go.”

Killian pulled her into his arms, leaned down and kissed her lips. “Have fun and keep them out of trouble. They’ll run head first toward it if you let them.” Journee laughed as she nodded. “I love you, Tigress.”

She smiled at him, the butterflies in her stomach awakening like they had the previous day. “I love you too, baby.” He released her, and she left the condo, sliding into Ziggy’s car once she was outside.

“I’m going to take it that my son being selfish was why you needed to reschedule yesterday,” Gena spoke after their server delivered their food.

“That’s a nice way of putting it,” Ziggy stated while Journee laughed.

“Yes, I guess you could say that,” Journee responded.

“All three of us know that he was playing backbreaker the last twenty-four hours. He gets released and acts as if he forgot everything other than sex. He practically threw me out the door when he came home, Mama.” Ziggy pouted momentarily before taking a bite of her chicken.

Journee damn near choked on the piece of fish she’d just put in her mouth while Gena cut her eyes at her daughter, shaking her head.

“Zaliyah, think before you speak.”

“I did, which is why I said sex and not the f-word and backbreaker instead of p-monster.”

Journee laughed as Gena swatted at Ziggy, but she was correct. He’d played both those parts and all those in between. Killian repeatedly wore her out. He gave her time to gain just enough energy before he ravaged her again.

“How long are you in town for, Journee?” Gena asked after a couple of minutes of them eating in silence.

“Until Sunday,” she responded.

She was going back to work, officially reopening her business on Monday. For a while, she contemplated taking more time off. She still had her inherited savings and a substantial amount in her business savings which she’d used to pay Abbie’s salary while they’d been closed. She didn’t feel her employee should suffer just because they were, since Journee decided to close.

However, Killian was doing better, and she felt okay leaving him alone, and honestly, she was ready to get back to work. She missed planning events and seeing the excitement on her client’s faces when it all came together.

They ate their food while discussing Gena’s surprise trip for Thomas for their anniversary in July and how she was trying to one-up him from the previous year. Ziggy stated it was something her parents did each year, and Journee thought the competition to always do something special for the other was cute. The fact that they tried to outdo one another showed how much they cared and were willing to put into it.
