“The church is looking better and better,” Mi Hi said in Korean.

Jun shot her a wry smile.

The realtor stepped aside, checking their listings for something better. They came back a few minutes later.

“We’ll have to go outside the Loop area. You’ll probably need to rent something freestanding.”

Mi Hi exchanged looks with Jun. “How much for something like that, and how far away?”

“The further out you go, the cheaper you can get.” The realtor mentioned a few numbers and linked them to general areas. Lincoln Park sounded ridiculously high. Jun shook his head immediately. He didn’t need the slightly pained look on Cedric’s face to tell him that was way too much money.

“We have to stay in budget.” Mi Hi reminded the realtor of her numbers from their previous conversation. “So, what’s left on the table with the noise requirements?”

They looked at two more places. Both of them were far from the city center, but both of them could do. The problem was both wanted long leases.

“Yun is getting the first royalty payments Monday,” Jun let Mi Hi know as they buckled back into the SUV. “It should be enough for two months’ expenses if we stay in budget.”

“Not if we rent out this far. The gas will kill us.” Mi Hi huffed. “Why aren’t there more trains that go east to west? I thought this was a modern city.”

Jun’s phone buzzed. It was Damian.

Jun sighed and texted back.

Jun nodded to himself. He let Cedric know about the change of plans. They dropped Mi Hi off first.

Habibi was asleep in the car seat when Cedric pulled the SUV into the underground parking garage beneath The Residency.

“Do you think you can stay with him while I go up?” Jun asked. If he woke Habibi up, the baby would want a bottle, and Jun didn’t have another one on him. They needed to get back to the hotel to make a fresh one.

“Let me call someone else on the team to see you up,” Cedric agreed. “Don’t rush.”

“I’ll bring you back something to eat,” Jun said.

He didn’t recognize the man who came out of the elevator a few minutes later, but Cedric waved him forward, so Jun jumped out.

Émeric was in the living room. He had his phone to his ear as Jun breezed in the door, leaving his security by the elevator. Jun leaned over to pull his ankle boots off. “I’ll call you back later,” he heard Émeric say.

Jun straightened up. “I’m just getting DaSu some things.”

Émeric nodded, his eyes moving up and down Jun’s outfit. A bit of red hit his cheeks.

Jun laughed. He spun around, letting the skirt flare out. “Mi Hi’s work. We were looking at places for 5N today.”

Émeric swallowed and tore his eyes away. “My apologies.”

Jun shook his head and waved the attempt away. “Be right back. Habibi is downstairs with Cedric.”

There was just no way to walk normally in stocking feet. Jun ran on his tiptoes down the hall and toward Damian’s bedroom.

It took more than just a few minutes to find everything Damian needed. He almost forgot his own fresh clothes. He located them carefully folded in one partially empty drawer. That must be the cleaning services Damian had told him the laundry was going to. He’d been taking their dirty clothes with him to the office, saying he’d send them to the service. And now they’d reappeared here. How convenient.

Jun grabbed himself two new pairs of pants and three fresh shirts. Even if it was just one day, Habibi had a habit of wrecking clothes, and the kids didn’t have school the next day.

After the clothes were packed in a gym bag, Jun looked around for anything else. Bringing Damian’s Bear would just be asking for Kimbo and Rue to latch on and want it. It would have to stay.

They all needed to stop living at the hotel, stat.
