"You've lost control. Don't be what everyone fears, Xandros. You've tried hard for decades to contain it." I snarl at him in response, uncaring.

Let them talk, let them come for my kingdom. I don't care, all I care about is finding my mate, and destroying the man who dares touch her.

"Xandros!" Carina shrieks. "He can't breathe." She grabs my arm. One growl forces her to step back. I may have my mate now, but I spent far too long trying to keep the mad king at bay, trying to hide the side effects of the humanity I was losing, and feeling her with him is shredding the last of it.

"You go on a rampage, they'll find out. The Council will find out, think of what will happen to her! They'll kill her along with you," Javier's words cut through the haze of my fury, reminding me of the consequences of losing control.

I release my grip on him, watching as he falls back to the ground. The gravity of his words sinks in, and I take a deep breath, attempting to regain control. "Think calmly, Xandros. You need to keep your head. You don't want to hurt Sienna," Javier advises, his voice steady and composed.

Carina steps forward, her gaze pleading with me. "No one needs to find out about this. I won't tell my father, let the guards and Javier handle it," Carina pleads.

"She betrayed me!" I roar, my anger still simmering beneath the surface. The pain and betrayal surge within me, threatening to consume my every thought. So I let the bond takeover, let it lead me to her. To them.

Without another word, I turn and run toward the forest, my Lycan form propelling me with unimaginable speed. The trees blur past me as I navigate the terrain, my mind consumed with thoughts of vengeance and retribution. The deafening roar of my own growl fills the air as my instincts take over, driving me forward in a desperate hunt. A hunt for my mate.

Yet the further I go, the more rabid I become. Anger is the pulse that gives life to the beast within. The only balm is her, and she betrayed me, betrayed our bond. Lights come into my line of vision as I come to a road across from the hotel she's holed up in. I scan the building and parking lot.

Sienna is my mate, my possession, and no one will take her away from me without facing the full wrath of my fury.

The warm water cascades over our bodies as we stumble and kiss in a fiery dance of passion. The air is thick with our heady scents and the urgency of my hunger, each touch igniting a primal desire within me.

"Sienna," Toby laughs, as my hands paw at him, nails scratching his skin. "Slow down, we have all night," Toby tells me. I know deep down I need him to mark me. I need to break free from the grasp of Xandros, to reclaim my own life back, to reclaim my freedom.

Toby shuts the water off, grabbing a towel before stepping out. He passes me one, and he walks into the room. With a surge of determination, I push Toby onto the bed, my lips finding their way to his chest and neck.

Fury simmers beneath the surface, mingling with desire as I become rougher, kissing and nipping down his neck. Toby groans, his hand fisting in my hair as I move lower, tracing a path over his abs. In a moment of intensity, my clawed hand wraps around his cock, and the sight of my own claws startles me, a vivid reminder of the burning hunger and fury that courses through me. I jolt back away from Toby, the realization hitting me like a wave. These aren't my feelings, they belong to Xandros.

"We have to go," I say, my voice laced with urgency. "He knows I'm gone. He'll come for me." I tell him, my gaze darting to the windows and doors.

"Calm down, you're being paranoid. I gave you a sedative, remember?" Toby reassures me. "He won't feel the bond, and he won't find us. He can't while that drug is in your system," he tries to calm me, but something is wrong. I can feel him, I'm sure of it, and it feels like he is getting closer.

I shake my head, a sense of unease within me. "No, I can feel him," I insist, a shiver running down my spine. Toby looks at me confused, his brows furrowed.

"You're imagining it," he insists, cupping my face between his hands and drawing me into a kiss, his lips attempting to distract me.

I try to push the feeling away, forgetting about Xandros and focusing on Toby, yet it's almost impossible. Toby tugs me to him, and I crash against him before he rolls on top of me, his touch tender and loving.

His lips travel down my body, his tongue tracing the lines and curves when he parts my legs, slipping between them. His hot breath sweeps over my core as he devours me, each stroke of his tongue sending waves of pleasure through my body. That feeling returns, a haunting presence in the back of my mind. A niggling sensation pulling me from the bliss of pleasure and filling me with anxiety.

As I stare at the ceiling, noting the intricate patterns, Xandros's voice suddenly flits through my head. "You thought you could hide from me, run off and be with him?" His words are dark, sinister, echoing in the depths of my consciousness, I blink them away remembering what Toby said, it's just my anxiety. He can’t feel me, I remind myself. It’s the effects just from the sedative, he can't truly feel me. Xandros laughs sinisterly in my mind, warning me.

"Is that what you believe? I am not an ordinary Lycan, Sienna, I’m a king. No pissy sedatives will stop me from finding you," his voice answers my thoughts.

No, he's not in my head. I clench my eyes shut, trying to drown out his voice. "Found you, little mouse. You cum for him, and I'll kill you both." he snarls before his voice fades, yet the conflict within me remains.

I lie there, staring at the ceiling, a myriad of emotions swirling within me as I try to remind myself it's just my anxiety, and nothing more. Xandros can't feel me, he can’t find me. Toby took care of that, I trust Toby.

Suddenly, Toby grips my chin, his voice breaking through my thoughts. "Hey, are you okay?" he asks, his concern evident in his eyes. Before I can respond, the door is kicked open, and Xandros steps into the room, his Lycan form dominating the space. Standing, as if posing for a portrait, Xandros fills the doorway. His glowing eyes directed at me; his canine teeth sharpened into points.

His musculature is thick, powerful and fearsome. I let out a piercing scream, my hands grasping at the sheets, fear coursing through my veins.

Toby's face turns to that of a bloodthirsty Lycan. His eyebrows furrow as his face contorts into something mean and terrifying, as if his face is slowly being pushed outward by the beast inside.

Toby's body is tense, ready to pounce, his muscles taut, veins exposed, claws curled. He holds the beast's gaze, his eyes flashing gold, and realization hits me. He's going to attack him.

Peering over at Xandros, his body is tense, his muscles taut, claws cracked and bared. His eyes glint menacingly—the glow of a predator—as he takes in the scene. First he looks at me and snarls, then to Toby. Something sinister flicks in his gaze, they bleed black; it's like looking into the pits of hell.
