“I’ll be right back,” he says and hurries out.
I close my eyes, exhausted. Where did he go? Is the sky going to fall on us again? Life has thrown us every obstacle possible, and we’ve survived. “Come on, throw everything you have.” I look up with narrowed eyes. “Can you hear me? Nothing will break us!”
I freshen up and go back to sitting on the couch, leaning my head back. I feel so weak.
Where the hell did he go? I want him here.
Half an hour passes, and finally, Ethan returns, holding a bag. I look at him with interest. “What did you bring? Something for my nausea? I’m not sure it will help. I’ll just wait a few days for it to pass.”
“I think you’ll have to wait more than a few days,” he says, pulling a box out of the bag. “I think you’re pregnant.”
My mouth falls open. “No.”
He nods. “You need to test.”
I take the box he hands me with trembling hands. It can’t be. They told me I couldn’t... “What if I am?”
“Then we’ll raise him or her together, with love.” He kisses the top of my head. “I can’t wait to have a child with you. A big blue-eyed baby.”
I get up and go to the bathroom, Ethan on my heels, holding my hand. I look at his loving eyes and exhale. “Nothing will break us.”
The End.
