“Dude, just tell her you think she’s cute and invite her to my party,” Frankie replied.

“So, I say those things at the same time, right?”

“What? No, you fool,” Frankie laughed.

“Frankie, you know I’m bad at this.”

“How come you said you didn’t need my help then?”

“I lied,” Eddy admitted.

“I know you did. I told you already, homie. You just follow my lead and do what I tell you to do, and you’ll be good. It’s just like basketball. Who’s the guy trying to get you a scholarship?” Frankie asked.

“You.”

“Exactly. Wherever I go, I’m trying to take you with me, bro. I’m a five-star recruit. I have some influence,” Frankie assured.

“That, you do.”

“Any other questions, Romeo?”

“Do you think she likes me?” Eddy asked.

“From what you’ve told me, yes. It’s kind of obvious,” Frankie pointed out.

“Okay.”

“So, the next time you see her, you know what to do,” Frankie asserted.

“Yes. I will say and do those things,” Eddy replied.

“Good, man,” Frankie acknowledged.

“What if sheactuallydoesn’t like me, though?” Eddy asked.

“I’m going to hit you,” Frankie answered in frustration.

“I’m sorry, I’m just nervous. You know how I get,” Eddy reminded.

“Oh, yeah. I know. Remember what happened with India?” Frankie asked.

“Her name is Indira. Please don’t bring her up. I don’t want to talk about her.”

“Relax, bro. I wasn’t trying to mess with you,” Frankie said.

“Sorry, I get a bit annoyed whenever I hear her name. I don’t know what it is.”

“I’m sure she moved away somewhere far. You won’t have to see her ever again,” Frankie remarked.

“I still find it weird how she just disappeared. We were in the middle of the school year. I can’t believe she hated me that much,” Eddy pointed out.

“It’s okay. I’m sure she’s not dead or anything. I think.”

“Frankie?!”

“I won’t talk about her anymore. I promise,” Frankie said jokingly.

That was the first time that year I heard anyone talk about Indira. I had tried my best to forget about her. She was buried in the deep depths of my mind, and I needed that bad memory to stay there. I hadn’t seen her in over a year and had zero contact with her. I was more than okay with it staying that way.
