"We will now offer our ormete," Pheyal said, and they all kneeled on either side of me, lifting their braids. Strands of silver hair glowed and lifted like they were caught in a gentle breeze.

I reached out my hand, and each of their ormetes floated up to wrap around my hand and wrist. My skin warmed at the contact.

"I, Commissioner Pheyal, offer my scent."

"I, Tactician Vaquel, offer my scent."

"I, Broma, Commissioner of AsunGor, offer my scent."

Warmth tingled up my nose, and my thighs clenched together. It became difficult to breathe, each inhale coming in shallow and rapid. With a twitch of my fingers, I caressed their smooth tentacles. They had their main ormete braided and decorated with bones and memories, but what wrapped around my wrist were unadorned tentacles.

I had to ask, my voice low and husky, "Where are your memories?"

"We're making them now, little delegate," Broma replied.

"There are ormete we save only for a mate," Pheyal explained.

"For her," Vaquel corrected Pheyal.

"For you," Broma confirmed, watching me squirm in my own skin.

"What is happening to me? I feel... I feel so..." I moaned and gripped their ormete tighter in my hand, my other hand reaching to run my fingers through Broma's strands.

"Do you wish for us to care for you?" His head leaned into my touch, and he closed his eyes with a moan that I echoed back as I rubbed my thighs together.

"She is reacting strongly to our scents," Pheyal said with a pleased grin.

Vaquel took a deep inhale and groaned. "She isn't the only one."

But I couldn't fall into his trap again without knowing what it meant to bond for an unGor.

"Bode," I tried to activate him with a rasp. "What happens to an unGor when they bond?"

Will he leave me again?"

"UnGor keep much of their planet's dynamics disconnected from technology, but according to much of my research, they have one primary delegate, considered similar to human marriage, but more than a contract. They can only obtain one bond, but that bond can grow if another unGor bonds with the same delegate, expanding their delegation with the approval of the delegate. Bonds are not immediate and must be maintained until fully matured or risk harming the unGor's health. Based on tracking news of Commissioner Trema's delegation, her mates were numbered in hundreds if we conclude that every clan had at least one commissioner sent to mate with her, and no records of her rejecting any of those offers."

"Hundreds?" I gasped.

"She seems to have connected with the Blue District database," Pheyal commented.

"She seems frightened," Vaquel added.

"We bond only once," Broma assured. "Only you are in charge of who we accept into your delegation. One cannot force a permanent bond, and you can reject a mate by denying them what they need to bond."

"What do you need?" I asked him.

"You."

My heart swelled with warmth and the air felt charged as my whole body begged to be touched.

"She's ready," Pheyal spoke deeply.

They all released their ormete from my hand, and I whimpered at the loss of contact with them as my body cooled with their absence. I shivered.

My vision went fuzzy and their voices seemed to echo in my head.

"I always imagined we'd do this on AsunGor," Vaquel said, breathing heavy.
