"We're going now," Vaquel stated and stomped to the door. "She may still be mad at you, but I can tell she's hurting and you two need to fix this. For all of our sakes."

That's when I felt the tug on our bond that felt all too similar to when she left the first time. Vaquel dropped to his knees from the shock, and Pheyal roared in pain.

My own screams echoed in my ears.

The door was opened, and the necia guards rushed to our sides.

"What's wrong with them?" one asked with a wince.

Mier-Lo was walking casually down the hall in front of us.

"Commander?" Another guard asked, seeking guidance on what to do.

"I was on my way to tell you that the humans have left to seek the healers on the surface. Command has been returned to me. I'm here to inform you that you are no longer welcome on this ship and must return to your vessel."

"Evie..." I groaned, grabbing onto my head as if that would keep it together. "Get the shuttle prepared, Pheyal. We'll negotiate clearance to land on Necias Prime."

Mier-Lo clucked her tongue with amusement. Normally, this would be an intriguing gesture that any unGor would find attractive, but all it did was agitate me. "You might want to avoid any clearance that would require Chief Wren-Kal's approval. He was ready for a Rakture hunt last I saw of him, and he'd been having Ul-Ro put him under lockdown until a ceremony could be performed. I doubt you'll be getting any approval from him anytime soon."

She wasn't done gloating about our precarious situation when she added, "I'd have tried to make Wren-Kal my mate while he's vulnerable, but I don't like the idea of being planet bound, and he's closer to being an elder than to wanting to explore the stars. He's also got the same disease you lot seem to have. Falling for your pets."

"Pets?" Vaquel growled in anger.

I held up my hand to stop him from falling into her trap.

"Remember, Vaquel," I explained through the pain pulsing through my ormete the farther our mate got from us, "Necia warriors find dueling an attractive foreplay and I doubt our mate would appreciate you mating outside the delegation."

Mier-Lo smirked. "You're no fun, Commissioner Broma. You're lucky, as a Commander of a Galactic Authority vessel, I'm required to give diplomatic waiver to you on denying my rights as a tribal leader. I'll even be polite and offer you some advice. Your human will not leave the other human's side, and after Roe-el's disaster of a mating ceremony, the red-headed one has not woken."

"She's not awake?" I wondered out loud. "Is that typical for a necia mating?"

"Any warrior would have woken already, but it is normal to sleep after mating," she confirmed. "It's better for all of us if the human doesn't wake at all, but I've heard the unGor have a salve that can speed up recovery of fertility issues. I may not like the human, but what's inside her is part of my tribe, and you three can help the future warrior."

"Are you saying you'll approve our shuttle to land on Necias Prime?" I asked her.

"Go take them to the shuttle already," she commanded the necia guards next to us. "Bunch of lost souls, the lot of you. They even smell like humans, even after all this time." Mier-Lo scoffedand handed me a strange leather adornment with a red bead at the end.

"What's that?" Vaquel asked.

"It appears to be an offering," I said while lifting my brow ridge in confusion. "Is this for me?" If it was, I couldn't accept it. Whose blood was in the bead?

"I have no intentions of living on unGor," she dismissed my concern. "This is a gift for the human. A token of my acceptance of her joining the tribe. Give this to her, and you have my approval. UnGors keep their words."

"Understood. We accept."

I took the trinket and handed it to Vaquel. He would know better how to scan it and make sure it was safe to give to the human, Violet.

Chapter twenty-one

Evie

"I'll murder you if she doesn't wake up, you know this, right?" I grumbled at Roe-el, who was rubbing her belly so much, I wondered if it would go raw. I thought about putting some of the lotion Vaquel gave me to help soothe herskin, but it felt awkward, considering I knew what it was made of now. Rubbing my mate's cum on her stomach seemed like a bit much when she wasn't awake to agree to it.

I glared at Roe-el because he deserved it, but also, I was abnormally grumpy from withdrawals of the mate bond with not one, but three unGor mates. Ul-Ro was kind enough to come to the surface to help me and look after Violet.

"I would accept this punishment gladly," Roe-el said with distress as he watched her. He really did care about her. I could see it in his eyes, and the tender way he fussed over her for weeks.

She still wouldn't wake up, but I watched as he bled himself and tipped her head to feed her from his blood. Apparently, that was what was keeping her alive this whole time. Necia blood promoted natural healing and gave her nutrients. Or so Medic Ul-Ro said.
