“That was magic,” he murmured into my hair.
I couldn’t agree more.
It seemed the more time I spent with Wes, the more the mate bond wanted to be free, showing us what we could be like. Silence passed between us, an understanding of what had just happened. Of what needed to happen now.
“It was,” I said simply, not wanting to spoil the moment. Because what happened next, I wanted so badly it hurt my chest.
We needed to say goodbye to Landon.
For good.
Wesley
Iwoketoasparkling cluster of blue-green staring at me through dark lashes, and right then I knew I could happily drown in them and die a happy man.
“Good morning.” Skye’s breath warmed my skin from where she snuggled against my chest, a leg draped between mine.
Wrapping my hands around her waist, I pulled her closer, her soft skin against mine, something I would never take for granted. “Good morning, beautiful.”
“Someone’s happy this morning,” she cooed, staring at my dick currently pitching a tent beneath the sheet draped over us.
I chuckled, not bothering to hide myself. “How could I not be? Last night was incredible.” I ran a finger down the length of her arm, the motion sprinkling her skin with goosebumps. She adjusted herself to face me, our bodies still tangled together like we couldn’t tear ourselves apart. I placed a kiss on her forehead before nuzzling her nose. “I didn’t realize I was your first.”
Knowing that information caused a predatory rift within me. It buried into my marrow like a demonic, possessive thing. Toknow I was the only man to have had her in such an intimate way was nothing I could have prepared myself for.
Skye shrugged in an attempt at playing it down. “Yeah well, surprise.” Her cheeks flushed, and I realized I had never seen her embarrassed before, always coming across as so confident. “You certainly know how toplease,” she said with a coy smile.
A huffed a laugh. “There’s an intense connection between us Skip, how could I not?”
She pursed her lips together as if holding back words, curiosity snagging me as she locked away her thoughts.
I laced my fingers through hers, my thumb caressing hers lightly. “What is it?”
She pushed a strand of hair behind her ear, her eyes foreshadowing uncertain words to come. “I just,” she chewed her bottom lip. “How manyothershave there been?”
I arched a brow. “Others?”
Her breath shuddered as if gathering confidence. “Woman. I mean, Scar told me…”
I knew exactly what Scarlet thought of me. In fact, most of Cutters Cove thought they had me figured out. Wes the womanizer. Well, fuck them. Just because I liked to flirt didn’t mean I would get my dick wet for just anyone.
I cupped the side of her cheek, capturing her gaze. “Don’t take Scarlet’s words for gospel.”
Confused irises stared back at me. “I don’t understand.”
I dropped my hand back to the bed, fighting the need to pop my knuckles. This wasn’t something I talked about. Ever. “I mean.” I sifted my hand through my hair, brushing it from my . “There have been girls, but not likethat. Not in a long time.”
“That?”
“As in sex,” I clarified. Pulling myself upright, I adjusted the pillows behind me, and she followed suit, turning to face me. “I haven’t slept with a woman for years.”
She screwed up her nose. “I don’t get it.”
I dipped my head before looking up at her again. “No one knows that… except you.” I stopped, not sure if I could say what I needed to next. Nerves buckled my confidence, its strap tightening around my chest. I had told no one this, it was something I had held in for years now. “I was taken advantage of… in my early twenties.”
Skye’s stare widened. “You mean…” Again, she didn’t finish her sentence, but I wouldn’t say the words for her.
I continued, pulling her close again. “I haven’t drunk whiskey since, and don’t drink spirits now unless in familiar company.”
