After he closed the door behind him, his eyes met mine, devoid of any life. Every word he wanted to say to me was said without him uttering one word.
I had disobeyed him and now I had to pay the price. I couldn’t believe I had sex with the bastard.
He stepped further into the room, and it was like all the oxygen had been sucked out. I couldn’t breathe because fear had dug its claws into me once again. He wasn’t the same fun-loving man I came to know.
Decker said someone would come clean me up, but no one had showed up until now. I had planned to use that time to try to escape because I thought it would probably be the only chance I’d have.
In order to clean me up, they’d have to take me out of these restraints. Maybe I could still try if I could calm my fear of this man.
“I thought we had an understanding, Nikki,” he said, his voice calm but deadly.
“Fuck you, Dylan!”
My throat had gone from feeling like a thousand knives slashing through my skin to a constant pounding and ache. I could barely swallow not that any of these people gave a fuck. But I wouldn’t let him see me in pain. He was probably just like Decker—thrived on others physical pain.
He shook his head at my outburst, as he walked inside what looked like a bathroom from where I was tied to the damn bed, but I really couldn’t tell.
When he came back out, he carried a first aid kit. He walked towards me with confidence in his footsteps. When he reached my side, he tossed the first aid kit on the bed.
He gazed at me, then at my throat, and my breast where Decker had bitten me, shaking his head. For how long that bastard choked me and how my throat felt, my skin was probably visibly bruised. And he definitely had broken the skin on my breast where he bit me. It still felt like his teeth were digging into my skin.
“We’re going to have to apply makeup to cover the bruises,” he said more to himself than me as he ran his fingertips along the sensitive skin on my neck. “Usually, our clients don’t care about these things, but you are his top prize now.”
“Lila got away?”
He glared at me as he opened the first aid kit and pulled out a tube. I struggled when he reached for my neck. “Don’t touch me!”
“Calm down, Nikki. It’s just an over-the-counter ointment. It’ll help with the swelling.”
I winced when he rubbed it across my neck, then massaged it in. Then he moved to the bite mark on my breast causing me to hiss. His eyes flicked to mine, then back to my wound as he continued to apply ointment.
“You know if you had just listened to me none of this would be happening. He wasn’t even going to let anyone touch you. He was thinking about keeping you for himself. Now that’s changed.”
I glared at him. “If it wasn’t for you, none of this would be happening, Dylan. And I don’t give a fuck if he was keeping me for himself. Both of you can fuck off.”
He let out a long, weary sigh, the sound echoing in the quiet room. “It’s Milo, not Dylan and I couldn’t let you run that story.”
“So, you lied about your name, too?” I sneered. “How do you even know the bastard?”
He shrugged like it didn’t matter. “He’s family, and I did what I had to do to get you to trust me. All you had to do was comply. Go with what was going on.”
“You can’t expect me not to fight for those women’s lives,Milo. You can’t expect me not to fight for myself!”
“And look where all that fight got you.”
I glared at him. “You’re all monsters.”
He nodded. “I’m not going to deny that. This is a business, Nikki. A very lucrative one. One that you’ve put in jeopardy for all involved, especially Owen. He’s not going to let you get away with what you did. I warned you to fall in line. I tried to help you.”
“You tried to break me, not help me.”
“That’s not the way I see it.”
He tossed the tube back into the first aid kit, then closed the first aid kit.
“I need to use the bathroom.”
He narrowed his eyes at me, his gaze piercing and intense. He shouldn’t trust me because the moment he untied me, I would make a break for it.
