“Are there any more questions for my client?” Della asked.
“Yes, I have a few more Ms. Blackmon,” he said not taking his attention off of me. “What were you doing in Las Vegas? Your girlfriend was clinging to life, and you took a trip. Can you explain that?”
“Was I welcomed at the hospital?”
He stared at me for a moment without answering my question.
“Was I welcomed at the hospital, Agent? I asked again.
“No,” he said. “But...”
“Right,” I said, interrupting his comment.
But fucking nothing. Rebel’s family didn’t want me around, especially since Rumi held me responsible for her hospitalization. So, I used that time to get rid of my father instead of dealing with shit here.
“It was better for her that her family wasn’t upset since some of you thought I hurt her.”
“And what were you doing in Las Vegas?” he asked again.
“Visiting family.”
“Okay, Agent,” Della said. “That’s enough questions for today. Unless you have an arrest warrant, next time you want to speak to my client make an appointment with me.”
Della stood, and I followed, never taking my eye off Agent Williams. I couldn’t tell if he believed me or not, but it didn’t really matter. I might always be under suspicion for their disappearance but there was nothing they would ever find to connect me or the club to it. Agent Revels and his wife’s bodies would never be found.
“I know you had something to do with this,” he said with anger in his voice. “And I’m going to take you down. All of you.”
“You don’t know shit, Agent. Your agent was a loose cannon. A loose cannon under your watch. Be careful who you’re threatening because if you continue to come after me, I can guarantee you, that you’ll be the one to lose everything. Not me.”
“Are you threatening me?”
A wide grin spread across my face. “No, I’m not threatening you, Agent. Just giving you a little friendly advice. If I were you, I’d listen.”
I looked at Della, her eyes meeting mine in a brief, acknowledging nod, before she exited the room, and I followedclosely behind. If he wanted to take me down, I was going to take him down with me. He ignored all the shit Revels had been doing. Rebel had enough evidence to bury her godfather, she just hadn’t put two and two together.
Or she was trying to save him?
WHAT DO YOU EXPECT ME TO DO?
Rebel Pierce
“We need to talk,” J.D. said as soon as he walked inside my apartment.
His face remained expressionless, not showing his thoughts, but I sensed the weight of the conversation he believed we should have. J.D. was getting rid of everyone involved in Dani’s murder and there was no way my godfather didn’t know Revels had gone rogue. He just ignored it because Revels was going after Demons United. I didn’t believe he knew what extent Revels had gone to in order to get J.D. out of the way or what his true motives where behind it, but he knew he wasn’t operating inside the law. Which meant he was involved in her death too.
I took in a deep breath and released it, calming my nerves. I loved my godfather. He’d been in my life for as long as I could remember. Did I think he deserved to answer for his part? I did. Did I want the worse to come to him? No, I didn’t. But was thatreally my decision to make? He hurt J.D. so it was his decision whether I agreed with it.
I closed the door behind him, then walked to the couch in my living room. He still hadn’t let me come back to the clubhouse, and I hadn’t returned to the office either because he didn’t believe I had healed enough. Anything I needed anything, Caesar or a prospect got it for me.
“When’s Siobhan coming home?” I asked since he hadn’t mentioned her since he came home.
The smile that stretched across his face was so beautiful. He absolutely adored his daughter. I knew it had to be hard for him to be away from her this long.
“She’s already home. She’s been asking about you non-stop.”
“Me?” I asked, smiling.
“Yeah. I told her you were under the weather, so it wasn’t a good time for her to see you, but as soon as you were all better, I’d bring you by.”
