“What’s so funny, Ms. Pierce?” the agent asked. “According to Agent Revels notes you were working with him to take down Demons United and had evidence you needed to turn over to him.”
“I’m sorry but I didn’t mean to laugh, but that is total bullshit.”
“So, are you disputing what Agent Revels wrote in his notes?”
“Hell yes! Look, I wasn’t working with Agent Revels, and I wasn’t giving him anything on J.D. or Demons United. Revels was crooked.”
“Excuse me?” Agent Romero asked with disbelief in voice. “What did you just say?”
“I uncovered information that Agent Revels was crooked. So, if anyone shot me it was him, not J.D.”
“That’s quite an accusation, Ms. Pierce,” Agent Romero said.
“Gentlemen, that’s enough questions for today,” Della said.
They narrowed their eyes at Della. “We have more questions, and she just accused a federal agent of corruption and attempted murder,” Agent Locke said.
“And my client has answered all your questions, gentlemen.” Della walked to the door then opened it. “Do I have to remind you, she is recovering from a gunshot wound that nearly took her life? Save your questions for another time.”
They both looked at each other, then put their notepads away. “We’ll be back,” Agent Romero said.
“Looking forward to it,” I said, sarcastically.
They left the room in complete silence, not exchanging any further words. After shutting the door behind them, Della’s gaze shifted towards me.
“Mother, could you please excuse us?”
“No,” she said. “Not until you tell me what the hell is going on Rebel.”
“I can’t talk to you about it because it’s about my client’s personal business.”
“The man who shot you?” she asked with her brow arched.
“He had nothing to do with me getting shot,” I said. “I don’t know how many fucking times I have to say it. J.D. didn’t do this to me. He wouldn’t.”
“Rebel...” My mother groaned, closing her eyes before she looked at me. “What the hell have you gotten yourself into?”
“I didn’t go looking for any of this to happen Mother. Now could you please leave so I can talk to my attorney?”
She huffed and stood. “I hope you don’t think this conversation is over, child because it isn’t. When I come back, it will be with your father, and I expect you to tell us everything.”
Without waiting for a response, she hurried out of my hospital room. Hopefully I’d be so doped up by the time my parentsreturned I won’t know my head from my ass, and they’d just leave me the hell alone.
Della took a seat beside the bed placing her briefcase in her lap.
“Whatever you say is between me and you.”
“It wasn’t J.D. who shot me. It was Agent Revels.”
“You remember?”
“I do, but I truly don’t know what happened to Agent Revels or his wife. And if I did, I wouldn’t tell you or anyone else.”
“I’m still waiting on the tests results of the bullet to come back. It will exonerate J.D. of shooting you but the evidence you have gives more credence to the claim that J.D. had something to do with his disappearance because you’re in a relationship and Agent Revels shot you.”
“I know.”
She sighed. “Let me see what you have on Revels, so I can go through it.”
