Anger flashed in his eyes as his jaw clenched. “According to Agent Revels notes, Rebel Pierce was going to give him evidence against you and your gang.”
Leaning forward, I planted my elbows on the cold, hard surface of the metal table. “You and I both know Agent we’re not a gang and I can’t speak on what Agent Revels and Rebel were in discussions about.”
“Is that why you shot her after you killed Agent Revels?”
All I could do was burst into laughter. Was this how they were trying to justify Revels shooting Rebel? Before I could answer, the door to the interrogation room opened and in stepped Della Blackmon.
She became the club’s lawyer after all that shit went down with Hannibal being implicated in the disappearance of a lot of women from a very popular club that used to be in Charlotte. I called in Sandman, a Nomad for the club, to take out the realperson to clear Hannibal’s name. However, law enforcement still refused to see that Demons United wasn’t involved in any of that shit. They’d look for anyway to take us down including using this bullshit.
“I hope you weren’t questioning my client without his lawyer present, Special Agent in Charge?” Della asked as she sat in the chair next to me.
“He’s a grown man, Ms. Blackmon. He doesn’t need you here to hold his hand.”
“I’m sure he doesn’t, but it’s still his constitutional right to have me present during questioning. Now my client will help you as much as possible.”
“Can I begin?” Special Agent Williams asked with his brow arched.
Della smiled. “You may.”
His eyes slid from her to me. “Why were you at Agent Revels house?”
“I wanted him to back off Rebel. He was threatening her.”
“And how do you know he was threatening her?” Special Agent Williams asked.
“Don’t answer that,” Della said before I could answer. “Any questions pertaining to Rebel Pierce and her interactions with Agent Revels are to be posed to her since he’s implicated in her shooting.”
“But I believe Mr. Stevens shot Ms. Pierce with Agent Revels gun to keep her quiet.”
I couldn’t help but scoff, but Della’s gentle touch on my arm halted my words in their tracks. “Agent, my client has been cleared of shooting, Ms. Pierce. The weapon used was Agent Revels. The only fingerprints on the weapon were Agent Revels. You’re grasping at straws trying to implicate my client to keep the focus off your agent and his wrongdoings.”
“Fingerprints can be manufactured,” he said.
“But Ms. Pierce herself has fingered Agent Revels as her shooter, not Mr. Stevens. Are you sure you’re the best person to be handling this interview since you’re so close to Ms. Pierce? Wouldn’t that be a conflict of interest?”
“I believe Agent Revels is dead,” he said, ignoring Della’s question. “And I believe you killed him and his wife.”
“And I believe you’re full of shit,” I said. “I didn’t kill Agent Revels or his wife. My concern has been Rebel, and it will always be Rebel.”
“If she was your concern, why weren’t you here while she was in the hospital?” he asked, crossing his arms over his chest.
“My client isn’t answering that. It has nothing to do with Agent Revels disappearance. Are you here to question him about that or his relationship with Ms. Pierce, Agent?”
“Both,” he responded.
“Well only one line of questioning is appropriate. Stick to that or I will end this interview,” Della said.
“What is your relationship to Agent Revels?” he asked.
Della looked at me and nodded, giving me permission to answer the question.
“Apparently he’s my half-brother,” I said and Special Agent Williams eyes widen.
“And how did you find this out?”
“Agent Revels. It’s what he told me the day I went to his home.”
I lied, but he didn’t need to know that I extracted that information from him the same day I killed him and his wife.
