"Razor, I'm at the airport now waiting for my flight to board. Please tell me he's alive."
"He's in surgery, but it doesn't look good, honey."
I lower my head, feeling so helpless. "What happened?"
"I'm not getting into it over the phone."
The woman announces my flight to board over the speakers at the airport.
"That's my boarding call. Razor, tell him to hold on for me and that I love him."
"I will, honey. I'll see you when you get here."
He ends the call, and I'm in a daze. My feet are moving on their own accord as my mind races a thousand miles a minute. I walk over to the lady and hand her my ticket. Please let him be all rightis all I repeat in my head as I take my seat on the plane.
"Please let him be all right," I mumble to myself as I cradle my head in my hands, waiting for the plane to take off.
I grab my bags and walk to the front of the airport. Tiny is waiting in the pickup area in Austin's truck, just as Razor said he would be. I throw my bags in the back and we speed off.
My eyes are red and swollen. What's wrong with him? Why won't anybody tell me what happened?"Tiny, please tell me what's going on," I demand.
Sighing, he looks over at me sadly. "I've been with my family for the past few days, and all I was told was something happened to Demon, and that I needed to go pick you up from the airport."
Helpless and hopeless, I lay my head against the window. I stare at the traffic speeding by for what seems like hours. Finally, we pull up to the hospital, and I barely give Tiny time to stop before I jump out and run into the emergency room entrance.
"Where's Austin?"
Razor and Dani run over to me, engulfing me in a hug. With tears in his eyes, J.D. walks over and wraps Dani in his arms. "He's still in surgery."
Nodding, I turn my attention back to Razor. He begins pacing the floor. I grab him by the arm and pull him over to a chair, forcing him to sit down. "Razor, what the hell happened?"
"He was shot. He wanted me to tell you that he loved you and that he was sorry before he stopped breathing."
I gasp, lower my head, and begin to sob. Barely able to contain my emotions, I can hardly speak. "He stoppedbreathing?"
He lowers his head, closes his eyes, and rubs the palms of his hands up and down his legs to wipe Austin's dried blood from them. "They were working on him in the ambulance when we left the bar."
"Why didn't I answer his calls, his texts?"
Razor grabs me and wraps his arms around me. "He hurt you, and he realizes that. Don't blame yourself. He wants to fix what he messed up."
He places a kiss on my forehead as a doctor emerges from the double doors.
"The family of Austin Tyler," he calls out, and we all head towards him. "Just immediate family only.”
“We all are immediate family,” Razor replies.
The doctor looks around the room at all the bikers. Sighing, he nods his head. "He is alive, although we did lose him on the table." Gasps echo throughout the room. "He has a gunshot wound to the chest and another gunshot wound to his right arm. We removed the bullets, but he's lost a lot of blood."
Grasping J. D’s hand, a look of relief crosses Dani’s face. "Thank God he's alive."
"Yes, he is alive, but at this moment he is in critical but stable condition. This is a touch and go situation, folks, and the next few hours and days are going to be critical as to whether Mr. Tyler recovers or succumbs to his injuries.”
I wipe tears from my eyes. All I need to do is see that he's Okay for myself, but I’m terrified. "Can we see him?"
"Of course, but only two at a time. His body needs time to recover. He is in the ICU and in a coma. We have inserted a breathing tube to help him breathe. It will remain in until he can breathe properly on his own. If you have any more questions, my name is Dr. Logan Hayes, or you can ask for the charge nurse." He quickly exits the waiting room through the doors he came through.
"Do you want to go first, Kira?" Dani asks.
