He pulled me closer, and I melted into his embrace. “Then they can fuck off.”

“Really?” I asked, shocked this family man would give his up if they didn’t accept me.

He sighed. “What don’t you get, Gina? You’re my Old Lady. You will be my wife. You’re it for me, doll.”

“And you’re it for me, Tav.”

“Good. Now let’s get this over with so I can take you home and fuck you.”

I laughed and tucked myself into his side as we walked through the threshold of his parents’ home. I was ready to get this over with, too, and get back to the life we were creating for ourselves.

I kicked off my shoes as soon as we made it back home.

Tavish’s place had become home to me and my brother. After finding David, Tavish believed this was the safest place since Alonzo Bianchi hadn’t been apprehended. But I wondered how Tavish was coping with not only his new girlfriend basically moving in with him, but her brother too. A brother who was dealing with a mountain of issues neither one of us could fathom.

He pulled me into his embrace. “What’s wrong?”

He brushed my hair out of my face and kissed my forehead.

“Nothing’s wrong,” I responded, looking up at him, confused as to why he’d asked.

“Then why is that line on your forehead that only appears when you’re worried there?”

“What the hell are you talking about?” I laughed. “I don’t have a line.”

“You have a line. When you’re thinking hard or worried, a line appears right here.” He smirked when I frowned then rubbed the space between my brows with the pad of his finger. “What’s up?”

I sighed. “Just thinking about all you’ve done for me and David these past few months.”

“What about what you’ve done for me?”

“I was righting a wrong, Tav. A wrong I played a part in.”

“No, Gina. You did your job. At one time, I faulted you, but I’m older now. Some would say wiser. In the end, you helped to free him.”

“I did what should have been done. I know this is your place, and I know the reason you moved us in here. You not only opened your home to your girlfriend, but her brother and his issues. I just don’t want to mess this up before we’ve had a chance to begin.”

“Gina, there’s no place I’d rather you be, and that goes for David as well. He’s family.”

“He’s family?”

Shock must’ve registered across my face because his beautiful smile crossed his, making me want to melt. Although this man had a ruthlessness about him I was sure I’d never see, when it came to me, he was Tav. My dark angel.

“Doll,” he pulled me toward the couch and down on his lap, “I don’t know what you’re expecting out of me, but what we have, nothing can come between it. I’m here for the long haul. If it means sharing my home with your family, that’s what I’m going to do. David is my family, and one day soon, he’ll be my brother-in-law. He needs help. That’s what family does.

“Yes. I love you. He’s your brother. You are in my life, and so is he. As long as he respects you, he’ll have no problem with me.”

“You are amazing, Tavish MacDaniel. Have I told you lately?” I asked, reaching up and wrapping my arms around his neck while he circled his around my waist.

“You haven’t, but that’s okay. I love you anyway.”

I laughed and pecked him on the lips. “Well, you are. You’re amazing.”

“You are too.” A smile crossed his face, and a mischievous glint shimmered in his eyes.

“What is it?” I asked.

“Let’s get married,” he said, and my heart pumped against my chest.
