“Why in the hell do you think I would want to marry a woman who’s fucked my cousin?” I looked at Angelo like he’d lost his damn mind.

He smirked like it was nothing.

Yes, we’d passed around women in our circle since we’d started getting laid, and maybe a time or two we’d partied all night long with women, trading with one another throughout the night. But marrying someone was different. There wasn’t a chance in hell I would marry someone who’d slept with Angelo or any of my men.

“It’s time for me to have someone to pass all this down to and preferably someone who you hadn’t fucked. I’m not getting any younger, and if I can join the Scuderi family and the De Maio clan, it will be icing on the cake. We’ll have Cosa Nostra territory as our own. Now is the time to get everything I’ve wanted and enjoy the company of a beautiful woman in the process. This is the time to take the De Maio clan to the next level, increase our numbers, territory, and profits.”

Francesca would jump at the chance to become my wife, like most of the daughters associated with the criminal world. She was groomed to be Donna. However, my future wife needed to be as close to Don Lombardo as possible. That was the woman who would carry the next generation of De Maios. Why go for his great-niece when I could have his daughter?

“I understand that’s what you want, Vin,” Angelo said, “but it may not be possible, at least not the way you want to do it. I don’t understand why we just don’t take them out.”

“Because I’m not looking to go to war with the Cosa Nostra, Angelo,” I responded. “What I want is to take what’s most precious to Lombardo and bring him to his knees for allowing his son to even think he could operate in my territory without me noticing. Obviously, Isabella means something to him, or he wouldn’t be so reluctant to take me up on my offer. And what better way is there to conquer my enemy than him seeing me with his daughter? The man loathes me.”

“So, what do you want to do?”

“We go to him, instead. I’m tired of waiting. I want her, and I want her now. Find out where he is.”

“Now?”

“Yes, Angelo. Now. There’s no point in putting it off any longer. Don Lombardo has a debt to repay to the De Maio clan, and I want to know what his decision istoday. He either gives me his daughter, or he and his sons die, and I take what I want through blood.”

“You got it. And Vin?”

“Yeah?”

“Make sure you finish this shit up quick. We got shit to do and getting your cock sucked isn’t on the fucking to do list. If I’m not getting any, you shouldn’t be getting any either.”

“Fuck you, Angelo.” I gave him the middle finger. “Find him, and I’ll meet you downstairs in ten minutes.”

“Make it five.”

Angelo pulled out his cell phone as he left my office, and I grunted in response. I was close; five minutes was more than enough time. The familiar tingle traveled down my spine when Daniella’s tongue licked the underside of my cock from base to tip. Pumping my hips a few more times, her mouth swallowing me whole, I exploded with a guttural groan.

“Shit!”

If I hadn’t had urgent business, I’d go another round with her. But duty called, like always.

I pulled my semi-flaccid dick out, then pushed her mouth closed, making sure she dropped none of my seed while ignoring the hurt in her eyes. I understood what she wanted from me, but I would never give her that. No matter how much she pleaded with me.

“So, were not even going to talk about us?” Tears pooled in her eyes as she stood. “You’re just going to marry someone else?”

“We’ve had this conversation more than I would’ve liked Daniella.” I stood and zipped up my dress slacks. “There is nous. There will never be anything between us other than this. You have to let this bullshit go.”

“But I love you, Vincenzo. We could have something great together if you gave it a chance. If you gave me a chance, I could make you see how wonderful things could be between us.”

She wrapped her arms around my neck while we gazed at each other. I wished I could give her everything she wanted. Despite what people thought or said about me, I wasn’t a completely heartless bastard. Close, but not completely. I didn’t go around hurting women just because I could. But I could never give her what she desired from me, and I’d made it known from the beginning.

I wasn’t built for what Daniella needed—I wasn’t built for what any woman needed. I wasn’t the kind of man who could put a woman before my interests. Love wasn’t an option because I loved myself above all others; the woman who I took as my wife would have no other choice but to understand that about me. The woman who stood by my side needed to be of a certain status, a certain pedigree in this world, and Daniella didn’t have it. Having feelings for me would never play into the decision I made when it came to deciding who to marry, only what I could gain in return.

“It’s not going to happen, Daniella.” I removed her arms from around my neck and took a step back, removing myself from her space. She looked dejected, but there was nothing I could do about it. I’d never lied to her about what she was to me, and I wouldn’t start now just because of the wounded puppy look in her eyes. “I don’t love you and I never will. We can’t have anything more than this because I don’t want anything more than this. You need to respect and accept it.”

Although Daniella was beautiful, she had nothing to offer other than her body, and I’d told her so on numerous occasions. While she hadn’t given up hope that there was a future for us, when I married Isabella, she’d have no other choice but to let the idea go like all the other women who wanted to marry me.

Daniella was the daughter of an associate—no one who held any real power in our world. Her father had offered her hand in marriage to repay a debt he owed. If she were anyone else, I might have taken him up on his offer, but I turned him down. I’d marry on my terms and to someone who was worth it. Daniella simply wasn’t worth it, regardless of how sexy she was or how good her mouth swallowed my dick. She wouldn’t increase my territory, my power, nor my standing in the criminal world. Therefore, she was of no use to me.

“You’re a real bastard, you know that Vincenzo?”

“So, I’ve been told a time or two.”
