Don’t go too fast, he reminded himself. Her small sounds of enjoyment spoke directly to his cock. Damn, he wanted this woman badly.

He stepped back and met her gaze. “Come home with me, Giana. I need to learn everything about you.”

“I’m right behind you,” she promised.

CHAPTER 4

Giana parked her truck next to him. It was fun to see how their vehicles seemed to signal that they had a lot in common. As she slid out of her truck and landed with a gentle bump, Giana regretted the two coffees she’d consumed while waiting for him. She hadn’t wanted to leave the table by the window in case he arrived.

“Now I’m hoping I didn’t leave a mess inside,” Koa said with a smile as he escorted her up to the door.

She loved the warmth of his hand on her back. Koa automatically took care of her. As far as she could tell, it wasn’t an act. Giana definitely wasn’t used to a man behaving like that.

“I promise not to judge,” she assured him as he opened the door.

Good heavens!Koa’s house was immaculate and sparse. Everything was in its place, and no dust would dare to land on the furniture in fear of instant annihilation. “I think you’re safe. And I know you’re never coming to my house if you think this is messy.”

“Military training,” he explained. “Plus the fact I don’t spend much time here.”

“Oh, are you a bar fly?”

“I do like music and dancing. But I spend a lot of time with my team.”

“You Special Forces guys seem to hang around each other,” Giana observed.

“We do. This is my first team so I can’t comment on how close other groups are, but when your life depends on those other guys, you bond.”

“I bet. Go get cleaned up. I’ll be fine here,” Giana urged as she took a seat on the couch.

“Please, feel free to turn on the TV, explore, make yourself at home,” Koa urged. He took a step toward her as if he were going to kiss her again and then halted. “Let me go shower.”

“I’ll be here,” she answered, smiling at him. Giana enjoyed thinking that he liked kissing her. She definitely had enjoyed his attention.

He disappeared down the hall, and she heard water running. “Oh!” That wouldn’t help her need to use the bathroom. Giana squeezed her legs together as the urge became an emergency. Maybe he had two bathrooms.

Koa had told her to explore. Giana bit her lip, trying to figure out what to do. She could jump in her truck and go to a public restroom. She looked around for a way to leave him a note. If only she could spot a notepad. She couldn’t just disappear.

Giana didn’t think she’d make it somewhere ten or even five minutes away. Standing, she walked down the hall, checking for another bathroom. She found a spare bedroom set up like a home gym and Koa’s bedroom with its massive king-size bed. That made her stop for a minute as her imagination went wild.

The pressure of her bladder made her switch focus. There wasn’t another bathroom. Only the one he was currently naked inside.

Before she could stop herself, Giana knocked on the door. “Koa, I’m so sorry. I have to pee.”

“Come in, little girl. I won’t peek.”

Giana didn’t hesitate. She was used to sharing facilities with the other firefighters. Heck, she’d seen most of her colleagues naked and vice versa when they’d been exposed to dangerous chemicals while putting out a fire and had to strip off their clothes for decontamination. Giana pushed her pants down and collapsed onto the toilet. Knowing that he could hear her made this seem so intimate.

A soft hum came from behind the shower curtain, and then a smooth, low voice emerged. Koa was singing. His voice was amazing. Deep and rich, he added his own touch to the latest country hit Giana had heard on all the radio stations. The song covered any sound she made and soothed her jangled nerves.

Quickly, she finished and flushed the toilet, hoping it wouldn’t affect the temperature in the shower. Giana washed her hands and squeaked a “thank you” before escaping out the door. His serenade followed her into the hall.

Giana leaned on the bathroom door, hugging herself. What a Daddy thing to do. How many men would have realized she was embarrassed and provided cover for her? More important than that, how many men wouldn’t have peeked? In one move, Koa had proved to her he was truthful, reliable, and thoughtful.

She shook her head in amazement. How had she found him?

“Please let him be my daddy,” she whispered.

“What? I’m sorry, I missed that,” Koa said, opening the door. “Whoa!” He caught Giana as she fell inward to land against his chest.
