“Yeah… on it,” he said quickly, before darting away like his pants were on fire.
I almost chuckled, but I had more pressing matters to deal with, namely a very turned-on omega.
Chapter 25
Elliot
My pack mates were supposed to be helping Melody cool off, but I had my suspicions that they were doing a lot more.
She was still lucid enough to consent, though, so I wasn't too concerned as I returned to my office and grabbed my phone to call the doctor.
“Hey, Elliot! How are your guys? Is this a work call?” Dr. Kirkland was an old friend who often helped out when it came to firefighter injuries.
“All the guys are good, but I do have a question. Could you potentially prescribe suppressants for an omega?”
The other line was silent for a moment.
“I can, but you're going to have to explain the situation to me before I can do that in good conscience.”
I quickly ran through the story of how Melody had come to stay at the firehouse. “My pack mates are kind of dating her, but she's suddenly been hit by a heat. She’s still new to being an omega, and we don't want to push her into anything, so she mentioned discussing suppressants.”
“Has she started nesting?”
“A little, she stole a bunch of our clothing.”
“And are you guys… well, have you been knotting her?”
“I’m pretty sure that’s what Samson and Fitz are doing right now,” I admitted. “She’s still semi lucid, so they want to help her through the spike.
The doctor was so quiet, I could practically hear him thinking through the phone.
“Elliot, this probably isn't going to be good news, but I can't prescribe her suppressants. It is not recommended to take them for your first heat unless you've been on them for months beforehand. Given the shock that would have made her present, she probably needs to get through this heat.”
“Fuck…”
“I know it's not ideal, but after she gets through it, you can bring her to the office, and I can talk her through her options.”
Melody was going into heat in the firehouse, and we couldn't put a stop to it.
“What do we do?”
“Talk to her. If she is still lucid enough, she can consent to you joining her for the heat, or she may decide to go through it solo. If she decides to do it solo, you will have to stay away from her.”
That made sense. The scent of an omega in heat was like crack to an alpha.
“This is going to be difficult,” I groaned.
“Are you guys on shift?”
“No, we are almost done. Samson and Fitz can be there for her.”
“Good. Now, unfortunately, there's not much I can do on the phone until you can bring her into the office for me to see her. So go keep an eye on her and keep me updated on how it's going.”
I agreed and said my goodbyes before hanging up. Slamming the phone down, I pinched the bridge of my nose. How was Igoing to manage this? Omegas shouldn’t be living in firehouses. Sure, it had worked out well for Station Sixteen, but I could see this quickly becoming a disaster.
Why was I doing this? This was absolutely not what I was supposed to be doing. I still didn’t know how my body had come to an agreement, carrying me toward the sounds and smells of Melody’s heat, when my brain was still dwelling on how this was a bad idea. Melody had literally just been pissed at me. Was she even going to want me there?
But I couldn’t stop myself. I couldn’t deny how badly I wanted to be in that room with the three of them, with Melody.
