“Even if it crashes and burns?” I whisper, side-eying Jake, making sure he’s not listening.

“Hell yes, even if it crashes and burns. At least you’ll be able to see if it was worth it. You won’t be second-guessing and wondering what would have happened if you’d stayed.”

“You’re right.”

“Of course, I’m right. When am I ever wrong? Okay, we need to finish packing, and then you two,” Taylor says, first pointing her fingers between Jake and me and then turning them around on her and Peyton, “need to take us two to the airport. So chop-chop, let’s go.”

“You heard the woman,” Peyton says, standing up from the table. “Chop-chop.”

“Oh god,” I mutter, rolling my eyes. “There are two of them.”

JAKE

A few hours later,I’ve dragged all my belongings into Cooper’s room after we dropped Peyton and Taylor off at the airport. Of course, they spent the whole ride there talking shit and ragging on us. But they each gave us sweet smiles, and I knew I’d won Taylor over when she whispered, “Good luck,” in my ear as she was saying goodbye. Peyton gave me a dude-bro hug, squeezing me tightly. I saw him whisper something to Cooper, but I didn’t want to intrude on their moment, so I didn’t ask what he said.

Moving all my things into Cooper’s hotel room made the most sense. There was no point in paying for two different rooms when we wanted to spend the entirety of the three extra days we’re here together. Luckily, the hotel had a lot of openings since so many people had left this morning after the reunion.

I probably should have spent more time at the actual reunion, but to be honest, I didn’t care once Cooper was in my sights. Laying eyes on him again after twenty years was all I cared about. Talking to him again, finding out who he is now, and how he’s been doing. Re-sparking our flame wasn’t something I thought would happen, but I don’t regret it. Andnow I get to spend the next three days in bliss with him as we try to navigate getting to know one another all over again.

What happens after the three days are up? I’m not sure, and it’s not something I want to think about right now. All I want to do is spend as much time as I can with Cooper, and we’ll figure out all the rest later.

“Damn, I’m so full even though we ate a few hours ago,” Cooper sighs, falling onto the bed next to me. He turns his head and smiles, making my heart skip a beat at how easily we’ve fallen back to one another.

“Oh yeah? So, a hike is out of the question then?”

“Definitely. But I do want to go do something, and then we can come back for some fun,” he waggles his eyebrows dramatically, turning toward me and laughing into my side.

“Okay, so when we were walking down the street yesterday, I saw they have those motorized scooter things. Would you be down with doing that?”

“Hell yes. No exercise for me,andit’ll be fun? Win-win. Let’s go.” He shoots up off the bed, rushing to grab his socks and sneakers.

I gingerly follow behind him, chuckling as I put my own socks on my feet. “You don’t have to rush. I don’t think the scooters are going to disappear.”

“No, but I want you to think about it. The sooner we go out and have some fun, the faster we can come back and have some more fun. Don’t get me wrong, I want to hang out and do things, but I also really need to have you fuck my brains out. So, we’re doing both, and we’re leaving now.”

“Fuck,” I whisper, biting my knuckle. “You’re so fucking sexy when you talk like that.” I walk over to him, shoving him up against the wall. Running my nose along the side of his throat, I inhale deeply, loving the smell of Cooper. “You’re such a goodfucking boy, Cooper. The way you turn me on so easily and get me rock hard in a matter of seconds with only a couple words.”

Cooper’s breath hitches, his chest rising high. “God, I love hearing you call me a good boy.”

“’Cause that’s what you are. You’re my fucking good boy. You always have been,” I add, knowing it’s true. We might have been apart for twenty years, but our bodies still know one another so well. The way he sways into me, his hand automatically seeking any inch of my skin it can reach.

“Fuck,” he whispers, closing his eyes. “Say it again.”

“Good boy,” I purr, biting down on his earlobe. “Now if you want to hear it again, you’re going to get your sexy ass out that door so that we can hang out and then rush back to this room.”

“Deal,” he says, nodding his head.

Once we compose ourselves, we head out of the hotel, walking down the street to where I saw the rows of scooters yesterday. Turning the corner, Cooper jumps up excitedly when he sees there’s still a few locked up.

“Wanna ride around Main Street? See what new places we can find?” I ask, walking up to the kiosk and reading the instructions on how to get a scooter unlocked.

“Sounds good to me. Maybe we can stop at a pet store?” he asks shyly.

“Are you having animal withdrawals?” I joke, snickering when he nods his head. “How about this?” I pull out my phone, searching for the closest animal shelter to us. “There’s one two blocks away. We can get there easily on the scooter.”

“Really? You don’t mind going?”
