“Okay, deal,” I say, my chest rising rapidly at the thought of him fucking me hard and roughly soon. “So, we’re really going to try to do this?”

“Hell yes, we are.”

JAKE

It’s beena month since I’ve been back home, and everything has relatively gone back to normal. I’m back working at the bar, odd hours of the day and night, then going back home to my empty house. But one thing has changed.

Cooper.

We text all day, every day, and at night we make sure to call one another even if it’s only for five minutes. Being in different time zones isn’t that hard since we’re only an hour apart, but when I’m not getting home until two in the morning, it’s too late to try FaceTiming Cooper to say goodnight. Even though it doesn’t happen often, it still sucks when it does. I can’t remember the last time I smiled anytime my phone vibrated in my pocket, or how Peyton keeps making fun of me for always having a smile on my face. I can’t help it, though.

I wasn’t sure what would happen after our three days were up, but after saying goodbye, we still stayed close. My phone has never been used as much as it has in the past month. And while I love texting and talking to Cooper, I miss being around him.

Which is why I’m so damn happy that Cooper is flying in to visit later today. I took the next week off from the bar, Peytonhappily telling me to fuck off and not come in while Cooper is here. For the past two days, I’ve scrubbed my house from top to bottom, making sure that every nook and cranny is spotless. I even stocked up on a bunch of snacks that I know Cooper is obsessed with. I have all these different ideas planned, and hopefully, by the end of his trip, I can convince him to move here one day.

At least, that’s the goal.

Glancing up at the clock, my eyes widen when I see I’m running late. “Fuck,” I whisper, jumping up from my couch and rushing to the front door. I get to the airport in record time, even beating the plane by a few minutes. Knowing that it will probably take Cooper a little while to get his stuff and get off the plane, I pull into the parking garage and find a spot near the entrance. It isn’t long before my phone is ringing in my ear.

“Hello?” I answer, putting the phone on speaker.

“Hi. I’m here. And it’s hot as fuck, Jake. What the hell?”

Laughing loudly, I toss my head back against the headrest. “Well, itisTexas. Give me a second to pull around and find you.”

Cooper tells me what gate he’s at, and I drive that way, instantly spotting him on the side of the road. God, he’s beautiful. He’s standing with a backpack on his back and a suitcase by his side. The sun is shining down, making his red hair even more vivid as a gentle breeze blows it softly. Arriving beside him, I put the truck in Park and rush out to sweep him up in my arms.

“Fuck, I missed you,” I whisper, pulling him into my arms. I place my face in his neck, breathing him in deeply.

“I missed you, too,” he tells me when I finally pull away. His hands grab hold of the sides of my face and plant a kiss on my lips before withdrawing, chuckling. “That’s just a little tease. You’ll get more once we’re back at your place.”

“Ugh, I can’t wait to get you in my bed. I’ve thought about it every night since I got back. You spread out wide on my sheets. Your gorgeous red hair against my pillow, the scent of you all over.”

“You’d better stop before you get us both turned on in the middle of the airport.”

“Shit, you’re right.” I place another quick kiss on his lips, then grab hold of his suitcase. “Come on, let’s go home.”

The ride home is fast, even with our stopping in the bigger city to grab something to eat. Cooper scarfs it down quickly, finishing his burger and fries before we’ve even pulled into my driveway.

“Someone was hungry,” I joke, when he crumples up his wrappers.

“I forgot to eat before I got to the airport, and then the TSA line was way too long and took forever, so by the time I got through, they were about to board the plane, so I went straight there. So, I might have been a little bit hungry.”

“A little bit? You devoured that burger in two point five seconds.”

“Well, it was either I hurry up and eat all my food in the truck and you can get your hands on me quicker, or I save the food, and you have to wait until I finish eating to touch me.”

“Fine,” I concede, knowing without a doubt that I don’t want to wait any longer than I have to before I can put my hands on him. “I guess I can see your point.”

“You guess? You know I’m always right. Now come on, show me more of this gorgeous house of yours.” We both get out of the truck, and I take all his things, leading him up the stone walkway to my front door. “Damn, this is all yours?”

“Yeah,” I reply, looking around my house.

I’ve had time to make it as homey as possible before Cooper got here. It’s a decent-sized, two-story house with a wrap-around porch. The porch is always my favorite part of the house, with two rocking chairs next to the front door. I always pictured myself old and gray, sitting on the porch while animals roamed all around the land. My eyes dart to Cooper, who’s eyeing the same furniture, and I wonder if it’s something that he could picture for his future, too.

Opening the front door, I let Cooper go in first and then snicker when Bailey comes barreling down the hallway, heading straight for his legs. Like the animal pro he is, he drops to his knees, and Bailey runs directly into his chest, licking at his cheek playfully while he rubs her belly.
