I nod my head realizing where her mind is going. We’ve already been gone a while, and it won’t be long before someone comes looking for us.
“Yeah. I guess we can’t stay locked away in here all night, can we?” I laugh which makes her smile again. I lift myself off of her and walk over to the trash to throw away the condom. I turn around and she is still sitting there naked as can be, staring at me. I walk toward her and lean in. “Like what you see?” I place a kiss just below her ear, and she smiles, biting her lower lip, and nods. I look at her perfect body sitting there on full display just for me. I lift her off the table, and she glides gloriously down my body, and damn, if my dick doesn’t start to get hard again. She smiles like she knows what just happened.
We both get dressed, and I help her with her zipper, then she helps me with my bowtie. I don’t want to leave this room. I know her mother’s most likely searching everywhere for her. I hope we can get out of here without being seen. I doubt it, though. Her mother seems to have the worstperfecttiming. We both give each other a once-over to make sure nothing is out of place, and we head out the door together, holding hands.

HUNTER
“Hunter! There you are! Honestly, where have you been? People have been asking to see you. I didn’t think you would embarrass me this much,” my mother spits out.
I was hoping we could run to the car and get away. But of course, my mother was right there waiting, like she knew we were in that room.
“Oh, Myles, you won’t know these people. Why don’t you go get yourself a drink so you aren’t bored,” she says, dismissing him.
Of course, she’s still trying to separate us. He opens his mouth to say something, but I cut him off.
“I actually think I’ll go with Myles to get a drink. Please tell whoever it is, hello, for me.” I turn my back on her, and Myles looks at me with those amazing blue eyes, trying to hide a smile. He tucks me against his side and kisses me on the cheek. We walk away before my mother can say anything else.
“Any drink in particular?” he asks.
“Rum and coke, please.” I look up at him, so grateful he is here.
“Got it. Need to rehydrate you after all thatexercise,” he whispers the last part so only I can hear, and my body ignites in flames.
I have never felt anything like what we did together in that room, and on a pool table, no less. I still can’t believe it! I’ve always felt like I was broken. Steve made me feel like I was too much work because I took too long. It made me feel like I wasn’t worth it. He didn’t care if I enjoyed it. He only wanted his release. Then I stopped even trying to get my own afterward because I felt frustrated and not cared for. Myles made me feel everything. Never would I have expected to have one orgasm, and he gave me two mind-blowing ones! I look over at him, leaning across the bar, grabbing our drinks. I have never felt more happy than I do when I’m with him.
“Come dance with me,” I hear a voice say, shattering my happiness.
“Steve, go away.” I groan. I don’t want him to talk to me, let alone touch me. He grabs me around my elbow and starts pulling me toward the dance floor.
“Don’t be like that. We had something good once. I don’t know what you’re doing slumming it with this new guy, but you at least owe me a dance for walking out on me.”
He is such an entitled prick. I stop and look at him, refusing to move any further. I won’t do something I don’t want to do, and I do not want his hands on me.
“I said no. Now leave me alone.”
“Why are you such a spoiled brat? We were perfect, and our parents want us together. Why can’t you be quiet and give everyone what they want?” he’s almost shouting, causing several heads to whip our way.
My mother is one of them, and she has a weird look on her face. I wish she would come and stand up for me, but she has never believed me when I told her what he’s really like. I lookaround at all the people whispering to each other. I look toward Myles, but he’s too busy ordering drinks to notice. I don’t want to make a scene, so I take a breath.
“I don’t want to be with you, and just because you want it doesn’t mean it has to happen. Now you’re making a scene, and you know how our parents feel about making scenes at events.” He shoots back the drink he has in his hand which has to be his usual double shot of Scotch. He wobbles a little and sets his glare on me.
He looks me up and down then toward Myles, his eyes blaze. “Fucking slut!” he shouts, attracting even more attention.
I flinch. It’s never a good thing when he shouts. The last time he did—I shake my head at the thought. I left the state for a reason, him. I refuse to let him hit me again. I try to back up, but I fall into warm, comforting hands. I breathe in, able to recognize that smell anywhere.
“Steve, I think you should take a walk,” Myles’ deep voice says from behind me. His hands remain on my waist, giving me a little squeeze.
“Yeah. Yeah, I don’t know why Conrad brought you here. He clearly has something wrong with him to make him think it was a good idea to send for you,” Steve spits out to Myles.
I grab hold of Myles’ hands to keep them in place. I don’t want him to leave or go toward Steve when he’s like this. Myles only squeezes me like he’s saying he’s not moving anywhere. My eyes land on my mom, who excuses herself from the women she was with to storm over here. It’s a combination of shame and relief that courses through me at the sight of her.
“That. Is. Enough. Steven,” my mother says firmly. “I am ashamed of you. Robert and Cheryl, take your son home. He’s not welcome back here.” She motions toward his parents watching from a nearby table, apparently dismissing the whole exchange.
I can’t help but look at her in shock. She’s always loved Steve.I hope she finally sees the man he actually is, even though this was tame for him. He wasn’t even that drunk yet. Steve’s parents pull him out of the room. He continues shouting obscenities at me and Myles. A tear escapes down my cheek, and I wipe it away, not realizing I’d started crying. I never wanted to embarrass my mom or make a scene at her charity gala. I hate that this happened because of me. Small warm hands touch my shoulders as Myles slowly steps back but holds my hand instead, and I look up to find my mom is standing right in front of me. Her hands squeeze, and she gives me a small nod. She’s never shown affection toward me or any type of concern. I had figured she would walk away and try to salvage the night, but here she is right in front of me. Myles squeezes my hand as if to tell me this is real.
“Alright, now I have an event to get back on track. You two enjoy your evening, but I don’t blame you if you want to go home. It’s completely your choice,” she says.
