His body is tense for a moment, then he gives in, and his shadows caress the little creature.

“Caspian Vito. Shadow dragon daddy.”

My little wanderer’s eyes blaze with my words and I purr at her.

Elementra.

In some hundred-plus years, I’m gonna put a baby in her.

Thirty-six

Fifty years after that

My eyes darken as I stare down the infuriating woman in front of me.

“Tell me what it was that you saw.”

She matches my glare.

“If you don’t get the hell out my lab, asshole, I’m going to drown you.”

“You could try,Perfecta Anima. I’m not going to ask again.”

“I’m not going to tell you again. I will not share that information with you. What I see in the Looking Glass only needs to be shared if there’s relevance to the realm’s history.”

“This is the realm’s history. Literally the definition of the history. One hundred and forty-five years ago, you saw Elementra creating the five daughters. I know you’ve seen more since then. I just need you to tell me one name.”

“I’m not doing it, Caspian. You know good and damn well you’re asking me to break the realmly rules. You have to figure it out first, with concrete proof, then I can confirm or deny. You don’t harass Willow like this over her visions.”

“That’s because she is my Primary and I won’t cause her any distress. You, on the other hand, get on my very last nerve and I don’t mind bothering you.”

“I really feel the brotherly love, I do. This has been a great bonding experience, but if you don’t want to wear the concoction I’m brewing, then I’d advise you float on out of here.”

She narrows her eyes on me and lifts the ladle from her fancy little cauldron.

My fists clench at my sides as she continues to refuse me the answer I want. Answers. Plural.

I came to her years upon years ago now and told her I was planning a surprise for Willow. She was completely on board at first. Then I told her what it was, and she zipped her lips.

She gave me a speech on how I knew she couldn’t do that.

Unfortunately, much like the sight, the Looking Glass is one of those things you have to tread carefully with.

Moments in time, even those long ago, can influence what happens now. Especially depending on what version of the truth was built upon the event.

If it all was a lie, it can all come crashing down.

We were fortunate enough that the realm didn’t revolt against us when I released the corrected history of our line.

The realm as a collective didn’t agree with the truth being kept from them, but at the end of the day, the Vitos were a much better outcome for them than Malvolio Choice ever would’ve been. Plus, we’ve served them well in the time since.

I grit my teeth as she lifts her little spoon some more. I know she really will throw it. Especially if it’ll only hurt and not kill me. “Fine.”

“And don’t go snitching on me to my sister again either, asshole. She didn’t help you the last time and she won’t now.”

Blah. We’ll see about that.
