I shuddered. “I hate lemon. We are not having lemon for our wedding cake. I want red velvet.”
He frowned so deeply I was sure the lines on his face would ruin his handsome looks. “Red velvet is too decadent. Our guests will like lemon.” He nodded at the chef who had made all our cake samples. “We’ll go with lemon.”
“No,” I cut in. “We’ll go with red velvet.”
The chef looked between us, confused.
“What’s wrong?” I asked. “It’s your job to make the best wedding cake. Isn’t red velvet better than lemon?”
“Don’t insult the chef,” Santino said. “Lemon, it is.”
“You’re not going to stop, are you?”
Santino only shook his head with a smug grin.
Fuck it. “Lemon, it is. But don’t be surprised when I destroy our wedding cake. Remember that.”
So, choosing a cake didn’t exactly go well.
And neither did choosing flowers.
Just like the cake, Santino chose, even though I tried to refuse to let him steamroll me again.
“I want this one,” I said, pointing at a bouquet of roses.
Santino scrunched up his nose, which I’ll admit, was kind of cute. “Roses are outdated. You’re better off going with something simpler. Like tulips.”
“Tulips? Talk about old-fashioned. I do not want tulips in my wedding bouquet.”
“You don’t get a say, Lucia.”
I placed my hands on my hips. “You’re not the one carrying the bouquet.”
“No,” he agreed. “But I’m the one looking at it, and I don’t want my eyes to be assaulted.”
“You’re so dramatic.”
“Pot meet kettle.”
I gasped. “I amnotdramatic. You’re the one who thinks he can just steamroll me and decide everything yourself.”
“Because I make good decisions.”
“And I don’t?”
He looked down at me with those gorgeous blue eyes. “You make questionable decisions all the time, Lucia. For example, at the party. You made a fool of yourself.”
“I did not.”
“When you asked the attendees if you were pretty? How is that not making a fool of yourself.”
I refused to blush. “I wasn’t embarrassed. I think you were only because you’re an idiot.”
“We’re going with the tulips. End of story.”
And that was that for the flowers.
Don’t even get me started on the color scheme.
