“I want you at the compound. Now,” Lucky commanded on the other end.

“Yeah, yeah, your highness.” I hung up just as Al was walking back into the apartment. “I’m getting dressed,” I grumbled, before heading to my closet.

I went right for the new Saint Laurent pieces I’d ordered from Bergdorf’s—a white V-neck lace bodysuit that left little to the imagination, tucked into the leather sequin miniskirt. I grabbed a leather jacket and finished the look with a pair of Louboutin red-soled booties.

Al scowled when I walked into the room. “We’re just going to the compound, Sienna.” He shook his head but opened the door and escorted me out. Al stepped off the elevator first with me close behind him.

“Fuck off,” Apollo growled at Al, and before I could get my bearings, he wrapped a hand in my hair and yanked me back into the elevator.

He was completely disheveled. His tie and jacket were gone, and his white shirt was soaked with blood. He looked like amaniac, his eyes wild as he pinned me in place. The elevator doors closed before anyone could come to my rescue.

I didn’t speak, barely breathed as we were carried up to my apartment and he forced me inside. Once he released me, I kicked off my heels, pulled my tight skirt up higher, and prepared for his attack. My heart raced and my blood pounded in my ears. But, for whatever reason, I needed this.Weneeded this.

“Fucking bitch.”

Those two words were all it took to tip me over the edge of my rage. I flung fist after fist as Apollo blocked each of my attempts at hurting him. I pushed, shoved, punched, and screamed—anything to get a reaction. I started to cry at some point, but it barely registered as I sought to cause him pain. Like he’d caused me.

“You just cut me out of your life!Me!No one else! What didIdo to deserve that?” I threw an elbow, reveling in the grunt he made when it hit. “I bled for you, goddamn it!” Shoving away from him, I panted, trying to catch my breath as the shattered pieces of my heart crumbled inside me. He stood silent, his chest heaving as he watched me. I was about to start yelling again when a cloud of anger settled between us, and he forced my back to the wall.

“I almost fucking killed you!” he shouted, his face an inch from mine. “I live in the fucking darkness and the only light I see are the flames that surround me. And they will burn you to nothing, Sienna.” His brown eyes turned to pools of honey, melting as his anger spiked and his sanity shifted.

“If it wasn’t you, it was the devil beside you that sent me to hell. But for you… only you, Apollo.” I reached a gentle hand up to stroke his face. “I’d make sure we both fucking thrived in the fire.”

He didn’t hesitate. His hand wrapped around my throat, his lips latching on to mine as his grip tightened and squeezed. Our mouths molded perfectly together, but our movements progressed until we were nothing more than a mess of teeth, grunts, and growls. My lungs seized, craving air, but I couldn’t pull away as his hard body continued to pin me against the wall.

His bicep flexed as he lifted me off the ground by my throat until my legs were wrapping around his waist. He could kill me here and now, and I wouldn’t even care. He lifted me higher and higher, my lungs bursting.

Then, when my mind was ready to shut off, he released my throat and carried me into my bedroom, throwing me onto the bed. I’d barely had a second to breathe before he was on me. His thick body covered mine, as he trailed kisses from my lips, down my neck, to my breasts. He ripped through the fabric of my lace bodysuit, his hands exploring every inch of my exposed skin.

“I need you,” I moaned, my plea barely above a whisper.

His eyes softened, turning into pools of delicious nectar I wanted dripped all over me. His caresses were gentle and kind, unlike any part of him I’d ever seen before. He pulled my skirt and panties down my legs, placing a kiss on each thigh before slowly pushing inside me. And as he continued to make love to me, I couldn’t help but want to scream at him to fuck me instead. I knew how to handle his hatred, how to fight against his anger, but his tenderness… I was certain it would be my undoing.

“Sienna,” Al shouted, startling me. I looked up to Apollo and his face was blurry. “Sienna, open your eyes,” Al continued to urge me.

“Apollo,” I moaned.

“Sienna! Take a deep breath,” Al soothed, as my vision of Apollo disappeared and I was left staring into my brother’s concerned eyes.

“There she is. Nice and slow.” Lucky helped me sit upright before leaning me against the closest wall. “Is this your blood or what was on him?” he asked, forcing me to look down at myself.

I tried to blink away my confusion, the cloud that seemed to block my vision. What the fuck happened? We were making love one second, and the next…

“He fucking strangled her, Lucky,” Al hissed, worry evident in his tone but the malice was more prevalent.

My clothes were still on and I was in my living room. It hadn’t happened. I… passed out because the motherfucker choked me! Unwanted tears tipped over my lash line, as a pained shriek parted my lips until my voice went hoarse. Al moved, picking me up and holding on to me.

Apollo had tried to kill me…

“What the hell is happening?” I asked Al, but he just shook his head. “Lucky, we need to find him. He isn’t okay.” I needed my brother to understand.

“Sienna, right now if I find him, I will fucking kill him for touching you,” Lucky growled, locking my door behind us as Al carried me out of my apartment.

We drifted down the elevator in tension-riddled silence, none of us knowing what to do next. Apollo was shredding himself at the seams and no one seemed to know how to handle him. The elevator door opened and about twenty men I recognized surrounded us. I felt like the President’s daughter as I was shuffled into the center of a group of armed and imposing bodyguards. Four cars idled at the curb, but it was Romeo leaning against the rear that gave me pause.

I didn’t deserve Romano’s loyalty.

“Are you all right, mio amore?” Lucky answered his phone on the first ring. “What! Where are you?” he shouted, while Al and I shared a concerned look. “Haul ass to the compound,” my brother ordered the driver. He listened for a few more minutesbefore hanging up with a grunt. He slammed his fist into the window over and over again as Al pulled me closer to him. We were both expecting the bulletproof glass to shatter. Lucky sighed. “Bella’s okay, said he’s just sitting in the garden in silence.”
