COULD CONVINCE YOU
“Hey there, hot stuff.”
Jace lifted an eyebrow at her. “Cute.”
“Yes, you are. Come in.”
“You’re wound up. How come?”
“Well,” Talia said, putting her hands on his chest. “The house is mine for a month. You’re the first guy I’ve had spend the night, and I’m horny. I’ve missed you. I’ve been gone all week. Did you miss me?”
It’d been over two weeks since Jace’s mother’s birthday and their serious conversation, her losing her patience with him, and then making up.
Last week she’d been traveling. She was in Boston at one of West’s businesses presenting information on the foundation, then went to New Hampshire at another business and ended in New York meeting with her brother and Laken, then staying for Abby’s birth of her nephew.
Samuel Trevor Carlisle was born yesterday morning, she held him once she could wrestle him away from her mother and Abby’s father, then caught a flight home this morning.
“I think I might have,” he said, leaning in to give her a kiss. “I need a shower. I’m not sure why I couldn’t go home first and take care of it.”
“Because we are going to spend the night together for the first time and I wanted you here. You know, coming home after a hot sweaty day. Damn, you are sexy.”
He’d been helping his father today but took off at five so they could have the Friday night to themselves. He was staying until he went to work on Sunday morning.
It’d be the longest amount of time they’d spent together and she was looking forward to it as another step in their relationship.
It was that now.
She knew it.
Maybe they weren’t officially calling the other boyfriend and girlfriend. Or even partners, but she felt it.
“And hot.”
“Yes, you are. I told you that.”
He moved past her. “I probably stink.”
“Life stinks at times. But come on, you can take a shower.”
He followed her through the house and down the stairs to her apartment.
“I’m really the first guy to spend the night here?”
“Yep. I’d never ask my mother if someone could stay here the night. None of my siblings have a significant other here in the house unless they are engaged.”
“You’re joking.”
“Nope. West bought the ranch that we used to live in and when he comes here, he stays there with Abby. Sometimes Braylon will stay there too with Lily. Foster always stays with Elias. Laken and Jamie stayed in a hotel. Not now they don’t, but I think they did the first time. Nelson and Rowan are upstairs now when they visit.”
“I can’t believe all the space in this house and people don’t stay here.”
She shrugged. “Laken and Jamie do now when they come, as they’ve got Jamie’s daughter with them. I’m always here. As I said, West and Braylon stay at the other house. It sits empty otherwise. I wanted to move in it a few years ago and was told no.”
“Why?”
“Why did I want to move in it or why was I told no?”
“Both.” He moved into her room and dropped his bag on her bed, opened it and pulled out a change of clothing. “These clothes I’m wearing should be washed. I don’t want to stuff them in the bag.”
