“But it’s damn near orgasmic.Thiswas the best idea ever. All our dates need cheese fries.” She fluttered her lashes at me. “Pretty please?”
I’d give her anything she wanted if she kept fluttering those gorgeous blue eyes at me. I stuck to nodding and took a giant bite of my burger to keep from saying something stupid. That look was dangerous, and she knew it too. There was no doubt about that.
“So.” I changed the topic. “I have three different date ideas.”
“Three?”
“Yeah, I figured options were a great way to go,” I said. She wiped her hands and folded them on the table, giving me her entire attention.I adored that about her.“This is all very dependent on what you want to do. I’m up for anything. The first option is the very typical dinner and movie option. However, the movie theater I picked is an older one. Everything inside is vintage, and it has a little gallery of actual movie props that we can wander through before or after the movie. I say that we don’t pick the movie beforehand and go for whatever’s playing next, no matter what that is.”
“Oh, I like that.” She smiled. “That’s risky. We could end up watching something awful.”
“It’s a less frequented movie theater. I’m sure we could find a way to occupy ourselves… alone… in the dark… if we needed to, spark plug,” I told her suggestively.
“Rhett!” she exclaimed, eyes widening. I liked pushing her sweet little vanilla buttons. It was fun seeing just how far outside her box I could get her to wander.
“Or the movie may be fantastic, and I tell you cuddling isn’t a fucking option because you’ll make me lose focus.” I shrugged. “That’s the luck of the draw.”
“That’s fun. All right, what else?”
“There’s a laser tag place not too far from here that lets people tag in, for lack of better terminology,” I said. “They usually end up with a surplus of kids wanting to play on the same team, so they let people off the street come in for a discount to play against the kids as a part of a community program. I figured we could go kick some ass—hopefully—and see how many kids we can make cry.”
“Rhett!”Yeah, I liked how she said my name.“We can’t do that!”
“I’m one hundred percent willing to make some kids cry over laser tag.”
“I’m in heels.”
“We can pick up shoes on the way there if that’s what you want to do. Get you something sturdy for some ass-kicking,” I replied with a grin. “And if none of those appeal to you, I have a friend with a gallery show tonight that we can go see—”
“That one!” Eva interrupted quickly. Her enthusiasm for art didn’t surprise me. “I want to do that one. Let’s go see art.”
Out of everything I’d planned, that one required the least out of me, but it was the one I’d expected her to pick.
“The guy who does most of my galleries will be there,” I continued. “And some of the artists I do shows with as well, so you’d get to meet a bunch of my people if that’s okay. The show is an explicit one though. The theme isA Secret Affairwith multiple mediums and nothing off limits.”
“I can’t promise I won’t start rating dicks,” she informed me. That little mischievous smile of hers was enough to do a man in.
“I expect nothing less, spark plug. So, art show it is.”
“Art show it is.” Eva nodded happily and popped another fry in her mouth. “When is your next art show?”
“I have one at the end of next month,” I said. “It’s a charity fundraiser for a foundation that helps domestic violence victims. I’m working on a sculpture for it.”
“Can I come?” she asked.
“If you want to.” I nodded slowly. The last time anyone I knew came to one of my shows was almost fifteen years ago when Sasha happened to be in town. The thought of Eva being at the show for me did something to my heart.
“I want to.”And so did that gorgeous smile on her face as she said the words too.
Chapter 62
Rhett
“Okay…buthow?”Evaasked. Her brows furrowed together tightly as she stared at a large canvas. Her head cocked to one side while she tried to figure out the position the couple on the canvas was in. “How?”
“You’re looking at it wrong, spark plug,” I whispered, stepping closer. Taking her head in my hands, I tilted her perspective the other way. Theohshe let out as she saw it made me chuckle. I remained at her back and trailed my fingers over her soft curves as we stood there.
The atmosphere in the gallery was sinful, to say the least, but Jaye’s best attribute to any show was the mood he created every time. It set him apart from other gallery show designers. The lighting was dark with red undertones that only added to each piece, sultry music thrummed against the wall, and the only appetizer options were double shot glasses of cherry wine, complete with an actual cherry to top each one off. I may have used the opportunity to show my ridiculous ability to tie a cherry stem, which had Eva laughing.
