“You too, Ashton.”
I climbed out of the hot tub, grabbed a towel, and headed up the stairs. My heart was racing at the speed of light while my lady parts quivered. His sexiness almost made me forget what a wealthy asshole he really was.
After changing into my nightshirt, I settled into bed. My hand traveled down the front of my panties while I thought about him—his mesmerizing eyes, commanding stature, and a body I knew would physically satisfy me, bringing me to the point of an orgasm.
My phone rang. When I glanced at it, I saw Melissa was calling.
“Hey, you.”
“It’s not too late, is it? You weren’t sleeping, were you?”
“No. I was up.”
“I just wanted to let you know that Adam and I are leaving in a couple of days for North Carolina to visit his parents.”
“That sounds like fun. How long will you be gone?”
“Just a week. I’ll call you when we get back. How’s the nanny job going?”
“Good. Eloise is such a sweet kid.”
“And her handsome daddy?” she asked.
“Typical wealthy asshole. Nothing new there.”
She laughed.
“You sure know how to pick them, Char. I have to hang up and finish packing. I’ll talk to you later.”
“Good night, Melissa. Have a safe trip.”
The following morning, I woke up Eloise, made sure she got dressed, and headed down to the kitchen.
“Morning, Sylvia.” I smiled.
“Good morning, Charlotte. I brewed you a cup of coffee.” She handed me the warm mug.
“Thank you. You didn’t have to do that.”
“It’s no big deal. I had just made Ashton a cup, and I knew you were on your way down.”
“Speaking of the big guy. Where is he?”
“He left a few minutes ago,” she said.
“Without saying goodbye to Eloise?” My brows furrowed.
“He said he forgot about a meeting he had first thing this morning.”
“It doesn’t matter.” I brought the mug to my lips.
“Morning, Sylvia. Can I have waffles today?” Eloise walked into the kitchen.
“Good morning, sweetness. Yes, you may.” She smiled.
“Did Dad leave already?” Eloise asked.
“He did,” I said. “He forgot about a meeting he had this morning. I’m sorry he didn’t get a chance to say goodbye.” I sat next to her at the island.
