“Momma, what are you making for us to eat? We’re all hungry now!”
“Hi, Sophie,” I respond lightly. Lena looks at me guiltily, then turns away to help her child take off her jacket and gloves. Once that’s done, Lena leads Sophie down the hall.
“I’ll just make sure that you guys have what you need. We can eat at our place,” I say loudly, looking at my brothers as they wander into the kitchen.
“Everything okay?” Tanner asks.
“Lena burned her hand,” I say, looking away so they can’t see the flush in my cheeks. I feel strangely guilty about having oral with Lena when they were away, and I don’t really want to address it here and now. I can feel their eyes on me. They know I’m not telling the entire truth.
“Is she okay?” Brody asks, looking down the hallway toward Lena’s and Sophie’s bedrooms.
“Yeah, I think so. Just a shock, you know?” I say as I finish boiling the noodles and combine them with the ramen broth.
“I can take things from here,” Lena says to me as she and Sophie walk back into the kitchen. She gives me a brief look, then her cheeks flush, and she looks away.
“Come on,” I tell my brothers.
“Thanks for taking me out to play and making us dinner!” Sophie sings out to us, waving as hard as she can.
“It was fun,” Brody says with a smile before following me out of the house.
On the short walk back to our place, all I can think about is Lena. When we get home, Tanner and Brody both crack open beers, then they lean against the counter in the kitchen and look at me, waiting for an explanation.
“What’s going on?” Tanner asks, finally breaking the silence when I don’t immediately speak.
I clear my throat. “I told you, she burned her hand.”
“You’re making things too easy for her,” Brody says to me.
I raise my brows at him. “I fix shit for her that neither of you has any idea how to sort out. That fucking cabin is almost as old as you, Brody.”
Tanner cackles as Brody eyes me with a disgruntled look.
“She needs to learn to be on her own up here, or she and the kid won’t be safe,” Brody insists, sipping at his beer and making a face. “God, I hate this brand. Why do you keep buying it?”
I roll my eyes. “You guys seem…jealous,” I say, pushing past them to go to the fridge and get my own beer. “Thanks for offering me a beer, by the way.”
“Should we be?” Tanner asks, his tone too quiet. He’s looking at me like he suspects that something is going on between Lena and me. I try hard not to give myself away. I don’t know why I don’t want them to know about Lena and I fucking in her kitchen, but I just don’t.
“Look,” I say to them, impressed with how controlled my voice sounds, “I just don’t want to make her feel like she’s all alone. She’s clearly been through a lot before she came up here. There’s no reason not to be helpful.”
“Bullshit aside, be careful around her,” Brody says before shaking his head and leaving the kitchen.
Careful, my ass.

Like an addict, I find myself struggling not to go back to her cabin over the next few hours. Tanner and Brody are both in their rooms, so sneaking out without being bombarded by their questions isn’t a hard feat.
I make my way down the hill, shivering because I didn’t take the time to put on enough clothing for a walk in the snow. I tap softly on the door of her cabin, and she opens it almost right away. It’s like she was waiting for me.
“Lena, I…” I start to say, but she presses a finger to my lips and takes my hand. I just manage to close the door behind me before she tugs me down the hall and into her room.
It doesn’t take long before she is spread beautifully before me, her hair fanned out under her like an angel’s halo on the bed. Her chest heaves as she pants, the curve of her supple, bare breasts tantalizing in the moonlight.
“Aiden, I need you,” she whimpers, her thighs trembling as I rub my length against her wetness.
“How much, Lena?” I murmur against her nipples, blowing on them to watch them harden. She shivers, her nails scratching against my shoulders.
