“You only get one, Octavia.” My fingers traced the small scar on her arm where I’d shot her. “We’re even now.”
“Far from it, you ass?—”
AJ slammed on the brakes, but it was too late. Metal screeched as we T-boned a car. Putting an arm out at the last second, I caught Octavia. Her head only bumping the back of the seat. But the airbag rattled us both. My arm was on fire, but it didn’t matter. All that mattered was the way Octavia was crawling into my lap. Her pained moans filtered between us as I barked at her, asking her where she was hurt.
“My heart,” she muttered just as her door was ripped open.
Staring down the barrel of Rocco’s gun, I saw the entire car was surrounded. “Let. Her. Go. Now,” he commanded.
Blood coated my teeth, but I smiled through it. “Go, little doll. That taste in the bathroom will hold me over. For now.” She started to slide off the seat, and I added, “I’ll see you soon.”
Those blue eyes were dazed but there were a million thoughts swirling in her head. Confusion. Need. Anger. It was a whirlwind.
Rocco pressed the gun to my forehead. “Tell me why I shouldn’t kill you right now.”
“That’s easy. She won’t forgive you.” The mocking grin on my face made him cock the gun.
“Pull that trigger and it’ll be the last thing you do.” Matteopressed his gun to the back of Rocco’s head. “Leave. You got the girl, now go.”
Backing away slowly, Rocco caught Octavia as she slumped into his arms. I’d just noticed the blood dripping from her hairline down to her forehead.
I tapped my head. “Get her to the hospital.”
“Don’t tell me how to take care of her,” Rocco hissed.
“You sure? Looks like you’re doin’ a fuckin’ bang-up job already,” I grunted, and then they were gone. “Nothing on him?”
Matteo shook his head.
“Goddamn it.”
Lorenzo started ripping down the airbags to help me out. “You need to fuck that girl.”
An image of Octavia falling apart came to the forefront of my mind. The way she was suddenly not ashamed of the scars. How she fought against me, demanding the pleasure she knew she could get. I couldn’t give her much, but coming all over my dick was the easiest and most satisfying thing I could do.
“Just saying…” Lorenzo smirked.
“Get us back to the hotel.”
AJ tried starting the car, but it wouldn’t work. I got out and eyed the damage before we jumped in with my othersoldatos.
The moment we entered the hotel room, I immediately went to my private bar. Walked to the floor-to-ceiling windows and looked down at the city. “I’ll be back for you, little doll.”
And I couldn’t wait to see how she crumbled beneath me.
Chapter Fourteen
OCTAVIA AGOSTINO
“You’re leaving today?”
“Yes, Sienna.” I rolled my eyes internally. “I’ve been messaging with an independent author I really like. I’m going to meet her.”
“Where?” she asked.
“She lives out west,” I answered evasively.
“West where? Like New Mexico? South Dakota?”
