Express out, then breathe good air back in.

That was what she did when she practiced yoga. And right now, she really needed to de-stress.

She was so tired of holding things in and not expressing them. This already felt better even though she was banged up, with gravel dug into her palms.

Rising slowly, she dusted herself off, and wished she could find a place to wash the blood off of her hands and dig the tiny pebbles out.

She also had to find some water to drink soon. She was parched.

Marilyn walked from the road over to the old grocery store to see if the grocery might have a restroom on the outside of the building or if she would have to wait until they opened. She didn’t know if she could go behind a tree. She had never tried that, so she would prefer not to.

Peering in through the dusty dirty front window, she saw nothing but blank shelves, and yellowed fliers advertising Thanksgiving turkeys.

It was currently July, just two weeks after the fourth. The bare grocery shelves held no canned goods or even rice. Not one staple. This grocery store was not only closed for business, but it had been closed for a long time.

Great.

Her shoulders slumped.

This wasn’t the best place to jump off of the back of that truck. It feels like a ghost town here. Where is this place? Where am I? I thought I was near Eagle Rock.

Peering in again at the old flier, she squinted. She could just make out Eagle Rock, Montana on the yellowed flier.

Eagle Rock, Good. I made it this far. Now I need a map. With a map I could find my way to Sadie and Hank’s place. Or I need to find a phone so I can call Sadie and let her know where I am.

“Rock”Ricky Trumbull was driving back from his bodyguard shift with Hercules in the pre-dawn hours when he saw sudden movement in the old grocery store parking lot. Someone was there.

He pulled his SUV into the parking lot.

What’s someone doing, sneaking around the old place? There’s nothing there to steal. Was it a homeless person or a criminal?

Someone ducked behind the building. The furtive movement told him the person didn’t want to be seen.

He frowned as he threw the SUV into park and turned it off. He opened his door, got out and opened the door for Hercules, but told him, “Stay.”

The German Shepard sat back down on the back of Rock’s SUV to wait. He could be out in seconds and would race to wherever Rock needed him.

It might be nothing. It might be something.

Intuitively Rock was not getting a feeling either way, so he proceeded cautiously toward the building and gave Herc a silent command to follow.

Both man and dog moved fast and stealthy toward whoever was trying to hide.

Rock saw a flash of blonde hair as a woman moved around the corner.

Probably not dangerous. Like a scared rabbit, trying to hide.

He switched direction and moved quiet and fast the other way around the building to he could intercept her.

Panic filledMarilyn when she saw the dark SUV pull into the parking lot.

They found me!

Her heart was racing, as she ran around the building. She had no idea where she could run or where she could hide but her fear fueled her movements.

She ran.
