"Sorry," Lucas says, bumping into an alpha I don't recognize as we head out.
The man looks like he's going incognito mode like Lucas tried to when he was stalking me. He growls low, but it silences quickly like he didn't mean to let it slip. Lucas snarls at him, but when the man keeps walking, Lucas shakes off his irritation. He's probably a friend of Henry, Sarah, or one of the other dozen people inside, and they can deal with his bad mood. Lucas and I have our own problems to deal with.
"Don't be mad at me, omega," Lucas says as he helps me into the car and secures the seatbelt. He brushes his lips against mine, and I whine into his mouth, needing more than he's going to be able to give me now.
"I'm not mad," I relent, and he kisses me deeper, his smile looking devilish when he pulls away.
"Get in the car and get me home," I tell him, huffing a little at how smug he looks about how easily he can get me to be putty in his hands. Really, he could just growl at me, and there's not a lot I wouldn't do for him.
"Needy thing," Lucas laughs, shutting my car door.
We're parked across the street from the bar, and when Lucas moves around the car to get in the driver's seat, I see the alphawho growled at us outside the bar with Sarah's father. The older alpha has a hand on the stranger's shoulder, but the tension in both of their bodies makes it seem like it isn't a friendly conversation.
Lucas notices the two before he gets in the car, but Sarah's dad sees us and waves us off like he has it handled. It's good enough for Lucas, and he slides inside to start up the car. His hand finds a home on my thigh, right where it belongs.
"Let's get you home so I can take care of you."
"Uh, first you're going to explain to me why the hell you're going to fight that douche," I tell him, glaring at him and the way he smirks over at me. Stupid, arrogant alpha. "Stop looking so handsome. It's not going to make me forget that you're being stupid."
Lucas doesn't look chastened at all. No, worse, he looks amused. "Omega, I know you get all hot and bothered at just the idea of me hurting another alpha for you."
"Way to make me sound unhinged." I frown, irritated that he's not wrong, and even more irritated that I all but admitted that to Lilah and Sarah earlier. I can't even deny it because even though I'm pissed, I'm probably perfuming for him right now.
"My unhinged omega," Lucas says, squeezing my thigh tighter. "I wouldn't want you any other way."
"That's because you're just as unhinged," I tell him.
He holds his hand up to his heart, feigning that I've insulted him before laughing. "We're perfect for one another."
I hum a little sound of contentment at that. I do enjoy knowing we're perfect for one another. Even without my sense of smell, I know he's the one for me.
"There you go," Lucas says, ruining the sweet moment by getting all smug again. He learns how to make me come, and all of a sudden, he's the most arrogant alpha I've ever been with. He's lucky he's so pretty.
"Why are you fighting him?" I ask, trying to get us back on track.
Lucas sighs, returning his hand to my thigh. "Because I agreed to the fight, and I can't get out of my contract without paying a lot of money."
I quirk a brow at him because we both know he was just willing to pay Kyle anything he wanted if it meant leaving me alone. Since everything's come out with his serial predator nature, and the fact that my daughter has a few half-siblings already, he signed away his rights to her without a fuss. He's having to deal with a lot more serious stuff than trying to ruin mine and Lucas's lives.
"Did you not want to pay the money, or did you just want a chance to beat on Kyle?" I ask, already knowing the answer but needing to hear the answer from Lucas.
"Remus was ready to kill him." Lucas turns to look at me as he slows to a stop at a red light. "So yeah, we feel like we were kind of robbed of that and want to beat his face in now."
"But no killing him," I say, making sure he's clear on how far he's allowed to take this.
"What if I make it look like an accident?" Remus asks, sparkling to life in Lucas's eyes.
"No murder, Remus," I say, adding a stern little pout to my words that has him snapping his teeth at me.
He doesn't like being told what to do now that he thinks he's a god at fucking me. And he is, but it's still fun to get him all worked up by trying to tell him what to do. He likes to remind me who's really in charge when I do.
"No murder," he relents, pulling into the parking garage at his apartment building.
He doesn't give Lucas back control of his body until we're in the elevator heading up to the apartment. They don't like me being out in public without Remus in control because there havebeen a couple of instances where people have approached me with questions about Kyle and everything else that's happened.
I haven't gone back to work at Night Owls. My manager was the one who asked for that. The bar is still getting pretty heavily bombarded with idiot Kyle fans who want to make fools of themselves by supporting him. The other bartenders find it amusing, though, and the group chat is never low on stories of idiots popping in just to be forced back out by Paul and Dale.
Lucas offered to pay for extra security for the bar since he knows my friends still work up there and are the ones having to deal with the bullshit. Staying home has been nice, and once I have my daughter, it will be hard to want to leave her. I haven't brought it up with Lucas yet, but I want to ask him if I can stay home for a little while to take care of the house and my daughter, and then return to work when I'm sure I won't cry every time I have to leave her. I can't see him denying me, but it's still a whole thing to be fully dependent on him and for him to support me.
