He squeezes my shoulder again, and I nod, letting him know I'm fine. His spirits seem to be somewhat lifted, and his desire to tell everyone that I might need someone to look at me. Jace's eyes widen, his smile broadening as he looks to Janie, or where Janie is currently being suffocated by her entire family, and then to me.

"Hey, your kids can be like best friends. Built in best friend just ready to go in nine months," Jace says, looking pleased with himself.

"More like six," Janie laughs. "We were going to tell you all at dinner next week."

"What changed?" Scott asks, his brows pulling together. I guess Fenrir is done with wanting to be near his pregnant sister-in-law because Scott's eyes stay dark.

I shrink into Jace, because I know exactly what's changed. The movement doesn't catch anyone except for Jace's attention, who finally remembers what he was about to tell everyone right as Sam opens his mouth to tell them all the same thing. Of course, neither of them gets the chance, because as soon as they're about to speak, I piss myself.

Okay, so it's not piss, but when my water breaks, so does all hell. Jace retches but tries to keep purring for me. Henry jumps over the back of the couch to take Jace's spot as Scott and Lilah both hurry over, their medical backgrounds coming in real handy.

"I can't believe you fucked up my blackmail attempt," I say because there's no way I'm about to actually have this baby. I'm just going to crack a joke and pretend it's not happening.

"Wish I'd known you were going to pop like a water balloon and we would've waited for Tuesday," Sam jibes back, pulling his phone out of his pocket and typing away on it as everyone tries to herd me toward the front door. "We had a cake ordered and everything."

"We can still have the cake," Fenrir says, coming out because he apparently thinks he's better equipped to handle this situation rather than the alpha with a medical degree.

"I'm going to your apartment to grab your bag," Henry tells me, fishing my keys out of my purse before handing them to Jace, who slings it over his shoulder without complaint. "Jace, go with her, do not let another man touch her."

"Alpha," Sarah chides, and Henry's attention snaps to her, his beast taking over long enough to put off a plume of his pheromones before retreating back inside their mind. "Herdoctor is a male. The nurses might be males. Don't get all weird alpha controlling on her now."

Henry's jaw ticks back and forth before he gives a slow nod. "Be with her at all times until either me or Lucas is there."

"Lucas gave me the information for your doctor a couple of weeks ago," Lilah says with an awkward smile. "I'll give him a call and tell him you're on your way."

"Okay, thank you," I say, still not quite sure I'm ready for all of this to be real. "Um, should someone tell Lucas?"

Everyone stops moving, looking at me like I've completely lost my mind. It's Sam's laugh that brings all of our attention to him. "Omega, I messaged and called your alpha before I even spoke to Janie."

"And what did he say?" I ask, all of a sudden needing Lucas here more than anything else.

If I'm about to have this baby, if I'm actually about to be a mother, I need him here with me. I thought for so long I was going to do this all on my own, but I don't want to do it alone, I don't want to do it without him.

"I really need Lucas to be there."

I start sobbing. I can't help it. I made a mess on my kind of sister-in-law's living room floor, the man who contributed genetic materials for making my daughter is about to be hopefully knocked out by my mate, and I'm about to have a fucking baby. I'm not ready for this. Not even a little bit.

Jace leaves my side, talking with Sam in what I know are words not meant for me because Henry is urging me through the front door. They're not quiet enough, though, and I hear them. I hear them and I cry some more.

"He's not answering his phone. I've called him nonstop since she told me, and he hasn't picked up."

Lucas

Deep breath in. Deep breath out.

That's all I focus on while I wait for my match against Kyle to start. I haven't spoken to anyone since I got back in my car, and I don't plan on speaking with anyone until I have Hayley back in my arms. This was a stupid idea. As soon as I drove away from Hayley, I knew this was so stupid.

We're avenging our mate. Making those who wronged her pay for their transgressions. This is the best idea, second only to fucking Hayley on top of his beaten form.

Fucking weirdo.

You're just jealous because I'm the one she'll think of when she imagines us vanquishing her enemies.

You're not vanquishing anyone.

Embarrassing him on live television is practically the same thing.
