I throw the Beta a hasty goodbye before turning to face the Omega, his cheeks puffed out with one of the delicacies, his face flushed in embarrassment. However, beneath all that, there’s a bit of pride. As if he’s not angry that I used his descriptions but proud that he could be part of the process. He whines at the expression on my face before chewing quickly and bowing his head. “Sorry. They’re really good. I didn’t want them to go to waste. Wait, did you want some?”
Tears gather in his eyes as he looks at the empty tray and then back at me, his bottom lip jutting out in a pout. I’ve never dealt with Omegas before. I have no experience with them other than in a textbook over twenty years ago in a biology class. My partners have always been Alphas and the only kid in my relationship was Nolan—Selena’s ex’s child. Also an Alpha.
“No, I’m good. You did well.”
Instantly, that smile is back on his face, my attention darting to the small bit of icing lingering at the corner of his lips. Everything in me is telling me to lean closer and lick it off of him but that would be crossing a line.
Instead, I reach forward and wipe it off with my thumb, intent on showing it to the Omega what a mess he’s made. I don’t expect to find him sucking my digit between those sinful lips and sucking it deeper into his mouth.
A low, growly sound tears from my chest as I watch his eyes flutter closed, both of us enraptured by the other. The longer he sucks, the more I want to drag him into my lap. Taste him. Consume him.Knot him.
Fuck.
I pull away from him, retrieving my thumb, and push his chair back to where it originally was at the corner of my desk. “Great. It’s lunchtime. Go get yourself something to eat.” The Omegacan’t seem to scramble out of my office fast enough, his heady citrus scent lingering after he’s gone.
I finally relax back in my seat, palming my cock through my pants. My hips pump up to meet my hand, a long, low groan filtering through my lips. The right thing to do is call Jasmine and tell her to find another assistant. But some primal part of me won’t allow that Omega to be anywhere other than at my side now.
Professionalism be damned.
Now, I just need to figure out his name.

Billy opens his mouth the moment he catches me scurrying into the café during the lunch rush but clamps it shut when he sees my face. His eyes widen as he nods to Adeline, the hustle and bustle of the café taken care of by two other employees most likely covering my shift.
I barely make it into the back when Adeline pulls me into her office and shuts the door. I crawl into a small ball under the desk and wrap my arms around my legs, rocking back and forth as I try to figure out what the fuck just happened.
I. Sucked. Mr. Holt’s.Thumb.
I almost came like that too. God, I’m embarrassed and I’m probably going to get fired. A distressed whine pulls from my throat as a presence slides in beside me. I look over to see Adeline crunched under the desk as well. “Hey, you. Want to tell me what happened?”
“Everything is wrong. I fucked up. I’m going to die.”
She just laughs. “I’m sure that’s not what is going to happen. You were gone for a little while. What did they need you for?”
“A babysitter, I guess? I don’t know. They wanted me to be Mr. Holt’s assistant and yes, I know. It’s weird…” I go off on an explanation, going into heavy detail about who Mr. Holt is without noticing what I’m doing. Adeline just raises an eyebrow and I blush before getting to the incident that is most definitely going to get me fired.
Adeline just stares at me before trying to bite back a laugh. “Sweetie, oh god. You always pick the most difficult relationships. When I told you to find someone better last night I didn’t think you’d go for his father.”
“I didn’t mean to!” I squeal, dragging my hands down my face. Tears pour down my cheeks as I try to reason with myself. I don’t have many options if I get fired from here. Well, the diner would take me back but the tips are awful. And then there’s finding an apartment.
Adeline just holds me as I freak out, not saying a word until my sobs are just me sniffling and burying my head against her arm. “Now, I have no idea how that happened or why but it seems like you were reacting to him. I’d be the first one to say hop on that and never let it go but I get that it’s complicated.”
“Complicated? Addy, he’s our boss. Liketheboss and he’s Nolan’s dad.”
“And you said that they researched all that. Let’s get you some lunch and then I’m sending your ass back up there. Pretend it didn’t happen unless he acknowledges it first.”
“How are you so calm?” I ask, leaning back to wipe my face. “I sucked his finger. Like I wanted it to be something else. And I…”
“And you just broke up with your boyfriend. You’re nearing your heat and you currently don’t have a place to live or the funds to rent an Alpha. Yes, sweetie, I noticed. But I also wasn’t going to push you. In another week if you hadn’t figured things out, I would have dragged you into the guest bedroom but we’re not there yet. Now, wash up. I’ll prepare you some sandwiches and then you can go march back up those stairs and do your job.”
“I don’t even know what that is,” I mumble.
Still, I do as she says, wandering to the small employee bathroom to wash my face. No doubt Jasmine will hear of what happened and the moment I step off the elevator, they’ll relieve me of my new badge and duties.
Strangely enough, it’s quiet when I return to Floor 15. No extra movement. Nothing out of place. And when I slip into the conference room I was first in, Mr. Holt isn’t waiting or calling me into his office. It’s just… silence.
