He snapped his teeth playfully at me, and I licked his cheek, leaning into him. Then we were kissing again, and he was hardening in me slowly, and I lost track of how much time we spent in that booth.
Epilogue - Dakota
Three months later
“I hate it,” Aidan told me, his voice monotone, as we looked at our bedroom.
“It’sours,” I said, clapping my hands together excitedly. “If you don’t like it, you know where the couch is.”
“Ryan’s girlfriend is on the couch,” Aidan grumbled.
I’d started to redecorate his bedroom to make it ours. A mated couple’s bedroom. My own trinkets and belongings were scattered over the new beside table that matched Aidan’s. But my most recent additions were the pale pink duvet covers, and the walls repainted a glimmering silver. I’d wanted to go further but I’d settled with splashes of pink across the room while he maintained his trademark black decor.
“Dakota, I’m not sleeping in a damn pink bed.”
“Sure you are!” I told him, flinging myself onto the bed. I stretched my arms over my head, grinning when Aidan’s focus was quickly taken from the room, to the skin I exposed. I wore a cropped T-shirt and a pair of lace panties. I’d yet to actually leave the room. I’d have to get dressed properly soon, but for now, I was comfortable.
I let one of my legs fall to the side, parting for him.
Aidan let out a rough noise as he knelt on the floor, kissing the waistband of my underwear, hands holding my thighs. He kissed up my navel but didn’t go further. “Anything yet?” he asked, touching my stomach.
“I bought more tests,” I told him, smiling. “I’ll do one when we get home later tonight.”
He closed his eyes and kissed my stomach before he pulled me up. “C’mon, Wolfie. We’re due to meet everyone soon. Dec’s itching to see his brother.”
“Weird that he didn’t mention it, right?”
“I tried to talk to him about it,” he said. “But he was pretty closed-off so I think there’s some bad blood there. I mean, why else would he ditch Silverlake Valley and not even mention that he was from there when I talked so much about it?”
“Has Conall said anything?”
“Not to me,” Aidan said. “And if I find out he’s said one word to you after how he treated you last year, then I’ll snap his neck.”
I laughed and pushed him away. “Down, boy.”
“I’m serious. I still don’t trust him.”
“I’ve heard your childhood stories,” I reminded him. “You were buddies once.”
“Yeah.Once.”
“You’ll get there. Let’s get ready.”
***
It had been three months since I’d permanently moved back to Oak Hill. I still hadn’t properly patched things up with my parents. I’d been avoiding them for the most part, but they hadn’t reached out, either. Theyhadchecked in with Fenrys but for now, I’d begged him to keep them in the dark about my move back to Oak Hill.
Since they’d seen me at the town hall function, I’d messaged them, telling them I’d been with Sasha and brieflyexplained her involvement with Fenrys’s pack. She wasn’t part of it, but she was Thalia’s friend, and slowly became mine, too. We had formed a somewhat trio. So, while I wasn’t confident to face my parents and introduce them to my mate, I had left the door open to keep them in my life and slowly work up.
As Aidan pulled up outside Fenrys’s house, two other cars did as well. His pack—ourpack, because they had accepted me too, even Sam, who I sparred with weekly—flooded out.
We headed inside and were greeted by seven other people standing up, immediately on guard. We’d only managed to get both packs to meet once before, a week after Aidan and Fenrys had agreed to be allies instead of enemies.
Conall walked forward, nodding at me and holding his hand out Aidan. “Thanks for coming.”
“Yeah,” he said. Things were still tense there. Conall had quipped thatat least he hadn’t kidnapped his mate. Aidan had laughed and told him good luck with actually finding a mate who’d put up with him. They were working on being amicable. As was Declan, who hated being in the same room as his brother for whatever reason he didn’t want to share.
Conall hadn’t been forthcoming with any stories, either.
