“Really?” Emmett asked, brow furrowing as he looked at Miles who shrugged.

“I’ll be fine without it. It’s not like I’m going anywhere,” Miles said with a scathing look around the living room. “Besides, I know how to ride pillion.”

Kaz straightened, his jaw clenching tight at the thought of Miles riding behind anyone but him. He was barely tolerating how close Emmett kept standing to Miles, as if he was perfectlycontent in Miles’s personal space. Seeing Miles on a bike, behind someone else, with his arms wrapped around them and his body pressed against them? He would lose his shit.

He felt eyes on him and snapped his gaze away from Miles to find Emma smirking at him, her eyes flashing with delight as she popped another spoonful of cereal into her mouth.

It was a good thing this place came with ten acres, because they’d be doing a whole lot of gravedigging, it seemed.

Emma put down her bowl and led Emmett and Travis to the door, leaving Miles behind in the living room. Miles turned and took one step before his gaze clashed with Kaz’s, and he jerked to a stop. His eyes widened for a moment, and then his gaze ran down Kaz’s body. He knew he probably looked like shit after the night he’d had, but the heat sparking in Miles’s eyes made him feel the opposite. It was always such a fucking rush when Miles looked at him?really looked. Like he could see right into his soul and only wanted to see more.

“Kaz,” Miles said, his name on those lips only fanning the flames roaring inside him. He stepped into the living room, his steps unfaltering as he made his way to Miles, who watched him with parted lips and a war waging in his eyes. He wanted desperately to affect the outcome of that war, to tip the scales to his side, but he stopped a few feet from Miles.

“Morning,” he said, his voice rough from lack of sleep.

Miles closed his eyes and drew in a deep breath, and that possessive part of him wanted so fucking desperately to claim that it was because Miles found his scent exhilarating.

Despite himself, he took a step closer, and Miles’s eyes snapped open. He stared into those golden eyes and hated that he couldn’t tell what the man was thinking.

“I…” Miles trailed off and licked his lips, his breath stuttering when Kaz’s gaze dropped to his mouth. He had fond memories of what that mouth could do. Memories he’d clung to for yearsbecause thoughts of Miles were the only thing he got off to. Touching someone else held no appeal to him. Not after he’d had Miles.

“I should… get started,” Miles mumbled, taking a step back.

Kaz slowly raised his gaze to meet amber eyes.

He felt the corners of his lips lift and said, “I’ll send everyone your way. They already know you’re in charge.”

“Sure. Thanks,” Miles muttered and turned, walking toward the front of the house. Kaz’s gaze dropped to Miles’s jean-clad ass. Round and firm, just like he remembered. He wanted his hands on that ass. He wanted to sink his teeth into a cheek, and then he wanted to slide inside Miles and fuck him like he deserved to be fucked; uninhibited and with all the love and need he’d felt for Miles for the past fourteen years.

Miles stopped walking a few feet from the door, and when Kaz raised his head, he met Miles’s knowing gaze. A grin spread across his face, and he cocked a brow at Miles, who pressed his lips together, that war waging in his eyes again.

Oh, he’d wear him down eventually. He’d earn back Miles’s trust, and when he did, he was going to worship every inch of that delectable body of his. Every. Single. Inch.

CHAPTER TEN

Miles

KAZ WAS going to be the death of him. When he caught Kaz staring at his ass, the look Kaz gave him was full of dirty promises he’d so desperately wanted to beg for. It took everything in him to walk away. Trying to focus on work was nearly impossible, but he told himself he was strong enough to push any thoughts of Kaz away. He needed those thoughts gone, but it was proving to be impossible. Kaz was all he could think of. The way he looked, leaning in the doorway, his hair a complete mess? He’d wanted the man more than ever before.

He cleared his throat and straightened when someone walked past him. It was one of the many bikers Kaz had assigned to help him, and the man didn’t spare him a glance as he headed across the parking lot to his friends, who were mostly waiting by their motorcycles, talking and laughing.

He’d sent two guys out to buy safety gear and had told the others in no uncertain terms that they weren’t to begin the renovations until they were wearing steel-toe boots and helmets, or he’d have their hides. The house was a ruin just waiting to collapse on top of them. There were certain people he wouldn’t mind getting squashed under the house, but his conscience wouldn’t allow indifference to take hold. Nor would his heart.

He knew these repairs would be tough and not because of the house, but because he was a damned perfectionist, and he knew that while these people would do their best, most didn’t have any experience.

Movement had him glancing up to see the Rhodes twins swinging sledgehammers at each other. He opened his mouth to shout at them to put them the fuck down, but one look from Jane had the twins dropping the hammers with sheepish looks on their faces.

He had to question Kaz’s intelligence for allowing those two dumbasses into his club. Liam and Luke were troublemakers. Their road names were Chaos and Riot for a reason. It was no wonder they’d turned out the way they had, considering their family. They’d grown up with Ash, Sully, and Jack around. That they hadn’t gotten themselves into worse trouble was… surprising. To say the least.

He sucked in a breath and couldn’t seem to release it again when he noticed Jane walking toward him. Her dark hair was in a messy bun, and she was wearing brand-new beige overalls. She gave him a sweet smile, and he felt goosebumps rise on the back of his neck.

“Don’t worry, Mr. Foreman,” she said, her eyes twinkling, “You tell us what to do and I’ll keep them in line.”

He forced the air out of his lungs and managed a curt nod.

Jane raised her voice, looking over her shoulder at the twins as she said, “And if they still manage to get into trouble, I’ll put them in the damned ground.”

From the serious expressions on the older bikers, he knew that wasn’t an idle threat.
