“Then I’ll be by your side when they do, and we’ll give them hell.”
Kaz’s brows hit his hairline, but he didn’t argue. He just pressed a soft kiss to Miles’s lips and said, “I look forward to seeing that.”
“You do know I can protect myself, right? You clearly haven’t seen me with a sledgehammer.”
A low, hearty laugh rumbled out of Kaz, his silver eyes shining brightly.
“Talk dirty to me,” Kaz drawled.
Miles sighed dramatically, even though he not so secretly loved it. He loved this stubborn, possessive asshole.
“Come with me,” Kaz said.
He let Kaz grab his hand and lead him downstairs, something unfurling in his stomach when he realized where Kaz was taking him. They crossed the parking lot to enter the garage door. He followed Kaz up the stairs, blinking rapidly when the bright light turned on. The sky was dark through the window, casting shadows across the room and Kaz as he walked them to the nearest desk.
“Last time didn’t go so well,” Kaz started, releasing Miles’s hand to reach into the box on the desk.
Looking at that cut had a lump forming in his throat.
“What do you say?” Kaz asked. “You wanna be mine?”
There were tears in his eyes as he nodded.
“Always.”
He held out his arms to let Kaz place the leather cut on him. Feeling the weight on his shoulders had a sob rising to his throat. It felt so right. Everything in this moment felt right. Like he’d waited his whole life for it.
CHAPTER THIRTY-THREE
Kaz
HIS HEART was in his throat, beating frantically as he took in the sight of Miles in that cut. With his name on him. Fuck, but it spoke to some feral part of him.
“I can’t wait to marry you.”
The words rushed out of him, and the red tinting Miles’s cheeks had his breath catching in his throat. He’d always loved that look on Miles. Almost as much as he loved pissing him off just enough to get the man’s hands on him.
Miles shook his head, his smile almost shy. “You know, I always thought I wanted a white picket fence and kids.”
Kaz arched a brow at him.
“I can paint the fence for you?”
The light gleaming in Miles’s eyes had him stealing a kiss. He couldn’t get enough of this man.
“I have to disappoint on the kids, though.” He pulled back, a smile teasing his lips. “The twins are all I can handle right now.”
A low laugh slipped from Miles’s lips, and he shook his head, hands running down Kaz’s chest as warmth filled his eyes.
“I said IthoughtI wanted it. All I really want is you and everything that comes with you.”
“So, a crumbling house and sixteen horribly raised bikers?”
Miles slapped a hand against Kaz’s chest. “My sister is one of those bikers.”
“That’s why I said sixteen and not seventeen.”
Miles snorted and dropped his forehead to Kaz’s shoulder, Kaz’s low laugh earning him a pinch to the side. He cupped Miles’s face, bringing his head back up. He brushed his thumbs across stubbled cheeks, his chest feeling lighter than ever.
