Miles chuckled, eyes gleaming as he walked around the table. Kaz pulled out the chair next to him, loving the smile that spread on Miles’s lips. Miles sat down, leaning in to press a kiss to Kaz’s cheek, a hand sliding up Kaz’s inner thigh.
“You’re asking for trouble,” Kaz said, turning his head to find Miles’s lips enticingly close.
“But that was my plan,” Miles replied in a breathy voice.
Kaz leaned back, eyes narrowing. Was he… using his own words against him?
From the gleam in those golden-brown eyes, Miles most certainly was. Oh, he was going to pay for it, and he damned well knew it.
If Miles wanted to play dirty, he would play dirty.
He dropped his gaze to Miles’s lips, loving the way they parted on a silent gasp, and then he leaned closer. Miles tipped his head back for a kiss, only realizing Kaz was reaching for the block of butter on the other side of him when Kaz pulled back with it in hand.
Miles’s eyes were pure wickedness, and he was looking forward to whatever it would lead to. He buttered his bread with a grin on his face, Miles crossing his arms and leaning back in his chair with a pout he wanted to kiss right off his lips. He knew the others were watching, and he was thoroughly enjoying being so out in the open about their relationship. It was something he’d wanted for a long fucking time.
Wilder’s bedroom door opened, and they all turned in time to see someone step out. A young woman in a short red dress and blonde hair she’d clearly tried to tame in a bun after a wild night. She closed the door behind her and looked up, her green eyes widening as she came to a halt at the sight of them.
He could feel her rising panic all the way over there, her cheeks reddening as her gaze darted between everyone seated at the table. Clearly, she hadn’t expected anyone to be around as she made her walk of shame. Not that any of them would ever shame her for it. He might give Wilder a kick in the ass for not walking her out, though.
“Hey, you want some breakfast?”
It was Remy who cut through the tension, the sweetness in her voice, and the smile on her lips genuine. As fierce as his Road Captain could be, there was a softness to her that spoke to most people. Once they were doing runs, that would come in handy with the people they helped.
The woman shook her head and mumbled, “No, thanks,” then awkwardly hurried toward the front door. Remy was staring after her, an unreadable look on her face.
Kaz tapped Remy with his foot under the table and said, “Make sure she gets home safe.”
Remy nodded, her lips pressed into a firm line as she stood and walked with long strides across the living room to catch up with the woman.
He turned his attention back to the people at the table, noting that Miles was watching him with a soft smile while Jane was looking anywhere but at him.
“What?” he asked her, not sure what to expect.
Green eyes met his, and Jane grimaced.
“I’m pretty sure that was Maddox’s sister.”
Kaz cursed under his breath.
“What’s wrong?” Miles asked, looking between Kaz and Jane.
Kaz sighed and leaned back in his chair, gaze meeting Miles’s. “Wilder’s a one-night-stand kinda guy, and most of his partners don’t realize it.”
“Not because he doesn’t tell them,” Jane interjected.
“They get attached. He doesn’t.” Kaz turned his gaze on Wilder’s door and scowled. “He shouldn’t have fucked her. I don’t want that kind of tension between our members.”
He caught Jane and Miles exchanging a look he couldn’t quite place. He didn’t know if Solo was the one leaving marks on Jane, but he cringed to himself when he realized that his words might’ve struck Jane if her and Solo were involved.
He cleared his throat, ready to amend his statement when he was interrupted by Emma walking through the front door, a perplexed look on her face.
“What’s going on?” she asked, glancing over her shoulder at where Remy and Maddox’s sister had just been.
“She got the short end of the stick,” Spencer muttered, the twins surprisingly quiet for once.
Jane huffed out a low laugh and said, “Oh, darling, it ain’t short.”
Kaz wasn’t the least bit surprised to find her looking at Solo as she spoke, one brow raised in challenge.
