“Okay,” I whisper.
“Okay,” he whispers back.
“We still have so much to talk about,” I murmur.
“We have time. We have forever.”
I chuckle. “Yeah, we do.”
“I have to tell you something,” he says tentatively.
I sit up on my elbows and look at him. “What?”
“When you left, Mitch said something to you. What was it?”
“Why?” I ask, confused about what he means.
“I talked to him when I went to your old house. I went to Diamond, and I took Sassy, and when I talked to Mitch, he said to tell you to remember what he told you. What was it?”
“Oh,” I say, remembering. “He said it’s absolutely okay to start over and let someone else love me the way I deserve.”
I remember when he said that to me, I couldn’t imagine loving again or finding someone to trust again. I thought it was just something he said, but now it means something.
Ty nodded. “Itisokay, Mellie.”
“Yeah. You really went to Diamond? Did you see Bradley?”
“I did see him from a distance, but I never talked to him.”
“Oh my God, I can’t believe it. How’s Mitch?”
“He seemed okay. Like a solid guy. You can call him now, you know.”
“I guess I can, can’t I?” I say.
“I have one more question,” he says, kissing my shoulder.
“What?”
“Make me a husband and father, Mel. Please.” He tilts his head and looks at me adoringly.
“Yes,” I whisper. “You’re stuck with us forever.”
“There’s nowhere else I’d rather be.”
He kisses me again, pulling me into him, and I breathe in a sigh of relief. In his arms is where I want to stay.

Mellie
Turn the Paige.
Beth,Allie, and I are at the bakery catching up on life. Beth rubs her super swollen belly and looks happy despite probably being wildly uncomfortable beginning her last trimester. I don’t envy her right now. Summertime and pregnant with twins has to be rough.
The door to the bakery opens and a short, red-haired woman comes in, looking like she’s been crying. We stop talking and stare as she reaches into her bag and then looks over at where the napkins are kept. She heads over to the dispenser, takes a large wad out, and wipes her eyes.
Allie stands and approaches her. “Are you okay?”
