Allie shakes her head. “What a bunch of dicks.”

“We can go see it if you want?” Beth offers.

“Okay,” I agree, anxious to see it for myself.

Just then, I hear a vehicle pull up. Allie looks out the window and bites her lip. “Guess who?” She has a big smile on her face as she looks back over at me.

Oh God. Nope. I can’t see him after the underwear incident. “No, no, no. You’re kidding me.” I stumble out of my chair and look out the window.

Beth looks over, too. “Yep, he’s going to workout in the barn with the guys. Logan put together his own home gym out there, and Evan and him have been lifting together. They invited Ty today. Whoo, it’s going to be smokin’ hot out there.”

“This is what I’m talking about. It’s not good,” I say, but secretly, I’m curious. Ty did look pretty good the other day when I saw him shirtless. I mean, what could another looksee hurt?

“Hopefully they take their shirts off this time,” Beth says with a sigh.

“Gross, that’s my brother.” Allie fake gags.

“Kill me now,” I mumble, still thinking about the next time I’ll have to interact with Ty. Maybe he forgot I was in my underwear. A distant memory he can’t access. Yeah, I’ll hope for that.

“Don’t get your granny panties in a wad, Mel,” Allie chirps.

Both dissolve into a fit of laughter again, and despite my embarrassment, I can’t help but smile. They do make me laugh, and it’s never boring with them, that’s for sure.

“Hey,” Allie pipes in. “Let’s go check out your greenhouse while they work out.” She slides into her boots by the door. “Boys!” she calls to Kase and Caleb. “Go out to the barn with the guys while we’re going to the greenhouse.”

We head out through the mudroom toward the barn. The doors of the barn are wide open, and sure enough, they’re in there lifting away. They aren’t shirtless, but Ty does look good.Damn it.

“Hey, guys.” Beth waves as we walk by. All three turn and wave back and we head down the dirt path to the cabin and pole barn that is probably half a mile down the road.

I take this time to keep my head down and not make eye contact with any of them, hoping that I’m invisible and all they see is Allie and Beth. Not me. Nope, nothing to see here. Luckily, they don’t make a move to make conversation and just continue working out. I’m relieved as we head down the road to the garden area.

“You all set for your grand opening?” I ask Allie as we walk.

“It’s finally almost done. The kitchen is about ready and we’re working on the dining area now. I can’t wait for you guys to see it all finished.”

“I can’t wait. You’ve been working so hard. It’s going to be amazing.”

“Thank you for helping with the decorating, Mellie. I had no idea you were so talented with all of that. It turned out amazing, and the plants are really making the place pop.”

“Of course,” I murmur. “Happy to help.”

“Let me know if you need any help sample testing,” Beth offers up. “The baby and I don’t mind being a part of the quality control team.”

“I sure will. We have samples to test later at the house.”

Just then, we round the corner, and there it is. The greenhouse. Fully finished. Gleaming in the sun. All the pieces put together correctly. What the hell? It even looks bigger than I’d thought it would be.

“Oh, wow.” We open the door and stand inside.

“See? Finished,” Allie says with a wave of her hand.

“Did Logan or Evan do it?” I ask.

“No one said anything to me.” Beth shrugs.

“Maybe it was Pete,” Allie suggests. “Either way, it looks great, and you can finally make more room in your garden shed to live.”

“This is incredible,” I whisper, looking around. “I’ll figure it out and thank them.”
