Kayla

Five Winters Ago / Age Twenty-Three

It’s the first dayof winter break and even though I’m dying to get my hands on him, I’ve made Ryan chase me down the mountain all morning.

But now? Now I have him all to myself behind a hidden snowbank. We can’t do anything here, but that doesn’t mean we can’t talk about it, and nothing turns me on like making dirty plans with Ryan.

He breaks our kiss and asks me first. “What’s on your wishlist this year?”

“I want you to blindfold me.”

“Deal. I want to get sucked off on a chairlift.”

“What the fuck? How?”

“One of those bubble ones on the far side of the mountain. Takes seven mins to reach the top of the run. Think you could manage?”

“You know I could.”

“What else?”

“I want you to rip my underwear sometime. Like, literally, tear them off me.”

“Easy, no problem. I’ll—”

“No, surprise me. And then shove them in my mouth while you fuck me.”

He gasps and I get a sick thrill knowing I’ve shocked him. “Kayla, that's nasty shit. You’re fucking filthy, but I'm so down.”

“Yeah?”

“Abso-fucking-lutey. Kiss me again.”

Chapter 13

Ryan

My family spend Christmasday mostly horizontal around the house, eating leftovers, playing games, reading and falling asleep in front of the television.

In the evening, Hannah heads to bed early with her books and a stash of chocolate, and Cameron and I play cards with my folks until the fire burns out.

“Have you enjoyed your first French Christmas, Cameron?” my mum asks, stifling a yawn.

He rubs his belly and catches her yawn. “A little too much, I think.”

I know how he feels. The third slice of chocolate yule log was entirely unnecessary.

“Well, that’s what Christmas in the mountains is all about,” Mum says.

“Seriously though, it’s been incredible. I can’t thank you enough for your hospitality.”

“You’re very welcome, son,” Dad says, giving him a squeeze on the shoulder. My parents have always accepted our friends with open arms, and Cameron is no different. This spontaneous trip could have been awkward if they weren’t happy about him joining me, or if he didn’t enjoy his time with us.

“Don’t stay up too late, boys.” Mum says on her way up the stairs. “Back on the slopes tomorrow.”

The fire crackles and Cameron yawns again, his head tipped back against the armrest on the sofa. “I have a feeling this will be the best sleep of my life. You coming up?”

“I’m gonna nip out and see Kayla, actually.”
