I roll my eyes at this daft romantic I’ve fallen deeply in love with. “You’re such a writer. This is a disaster.”
“OK, Hannah.” He sits up straight, his tone serious. “What do you want to do? You decide this for us. I can ditch this gig. I’ll go anywhere you want to be.”
“I can’t ask you to do that.”
“Would you have looked for a job in the US if it wasn’t for me?” he says.
“Probably not right now, but maybe eventually. There are some great opportunities and great clients out there. Would you have applied for something here?”
“Honestly, no,” he sighs, and settles back against his sofa cushions. “And not because I don’t want to do it, but because I hadn’t even considered leaving L.A. until I met you. Now I’m itching to get out of here and see what the fuck the world has in store for me. I’ve never been to London, and I can’t wait to visit. And you’re the biggest part of it, but not the whole reason. I want to live a little.”
He speaks as if I’ve brought out the best in him, when I feel he’s brought me out of my shell, too. Maybe we’ve both given each other the push we needed in life.
“Mac’n’Pleaseis doing well,” he continues. “So after this sound gig I could get by on just that work, which means more time with you. We can take some trips, spend weekends with your parents.”
I giggle at the thought. Cameron has seriously bonded with my parents, especially Mum. If he’s not checking in with her and sending selfies from L.A., he’s sending updates about Ryan, and telling her how much he misses me.
“You love London, right?”
“I really do.” As excited as I was about gaining law experience abroad, I immediately started thinking about things I’d miss. The weird way we can have four seasons in one day, the iconic views as you walk along the river Thames, bacon naans for breakfast at Dishoom. I’d miss my parents and the few friends I’ve held onto. I’d miss feeling safe in my comfort zone. Cameron is the most bold thing to happen in my life, but he knows to take baby steps with me. Even the idea of starting a new life in L.A. where I know nobody and I’d get lost every day was enough to send me into a panic spiral.
“Can you ask to stay in London?” he suggests.
“Probably. I haven’t signed anything yet.”
“Then it’s settled. Go and make the call or send an email or whatever. Tell them you’re staying. And tell them your boyfriend’s coming over so you’ll be late to work some mornings because he wouldn’t let you leave the house until you’d come all over his cock.”
My eyes flare, and my thighs press together. He’s always doing this, dropping absolute filth into the middle of our conversations. I can’t say I hate it, and he definitely notices my reaction.
“Or maybe skip the last part if it’s going to make your eyes glaze over like that. Damn, you really need to get off, don’t you, baby?”
“Uh-huh,” I moan, switching my phone to the opposite hand and pushing into my shorts where I’m already slick and ready. I circle my clit a few times with gentle pressure, forcing myself to hold back from where I need it most.
“Me too, baby. You wanna see how hard you’ve made me just from looking at your pretty face?”
“Yes, please.” He doesn’t need to be asked twice, angling his phone down to show me where he’s gripping the base hard in his fist.
“Hey Hannah…?”
“Yes, Cameron?”
“Can I tell you something?”
“Please,” I moan.
He talks me through my orgasm, his instructions driving me higher than I ever manage on my own. I watch as he strokes himself off, his eyes squeezing shut, mouth gasping as his release takes over. Afterwards, he cleans himself up, and I stay on the phone as I brush my teeth and head through to my bedroom. Then we lay, breathless and infatuated, on opposite sides of the world.
“Cam?” I whisper, sleep pulling me deeper into its clutches.
“Yes, my princess?”
“Will you move in with me? If you come here, I don’t want you living anywhere else. I’ll be working a lot. I want you to be here when I get home.”
“That depends.”
“On?”
“Does your apartment have good sound proofing?” he teases. “You’re pretty loud when I make you come. I wouldn’t want to upset my new neighbours.”
