“Last time led to the hottest kiss of my life, and I don’t regret it one bit.”

“You could have died,” she says, punching her fist against my arm. “Promise you’ll go slower this time.”

“I was trying to go slow, then!” We walk arm in arm to the top of the piste that runs back to the village, and she shows me again how to position myself. We push off, and I swear I try to take it slower, but this sledge is extra slippy or something.

“Steer back towards me,” she yells.

“I’m trying! You’re too far away.” I lean hard and start heading in her direction, but overcompensate, and the next thing I know, I’ve wiped her out. We tumble, rolling together for a bit until we lose our grip on each other and land a few yards apart with a thud.

My ribs hurt, but I push to my knees and scramble to her side. “Fuck, I’m sorry, are you OK?”

“Next time we’re waiting for a cab,” she laughs, spitting out a mouthful of snow, then rolling to her back to brush more out of her face.

“You’re not hurt?”

“I’m fine. Did you hold on to your sledge?” Hers is still in her hand and I take it from her and jam it into the snow. Looking around for mine, I spot it not too far out of reach, but it can wait.

I crawl up over and rest my fists either side of her head, my knees at her hips. My perfect snow angel.

“So about that thing you said earlier,” she says, staring up at me, moonlight reflected in her eyes.

“What thing?”

“The thing where you said you’re falling for me.” She presses her lips together.

“Oh,thatthing.” I smile and pull her up by the front of her jacket so I can snake my arm underneath her. “Any chance I can wipe that from your brain and you can act real happy and surprised when I say it again?”

“I don’t think I can do that. Unless you didn’t mean it?”

“Oh no, I definitely meant it. It’s just… this is wild, right? We just met, and I’m feeling all these things I’ve never felt before. I’m lying in the snow halfway up a mountain and I’m falling so fucking hard for you, Hannah. I don’t know how to explain it, maybe it’s Christmas magic or something but I feel like you really see me.”

“I do see you.” She smiles that beautiful smile of hers, tugging off her gloves so she can cup both sides of my face. “I’m falling too, Cameron.” She arches up to kiss the tip of my nose. “But I’m pretty sure I was falling from the first time I heard your voice.”

“I know, baby.”

“Because of the DMs?”

“Because of the DMs,” I laugh, rolling to my back and pulling her on top of me.

She sighs, cold breath lingering between us. “Best stupid mistake I ever made.”

“Those were so fucking hot, by the way. I don’t know if I told you how much they turned me on when I read them.” Her cheeks turn a shade pinker. My beautiful, shy, brilliant woman. “Don’t get embarrassed. I need you to send a lot more messages like that once we get back home.”

Mac'n'Please

At the Bar

Do you… um… do you want to stay over? I could order some food, we could watch a movie or something.

Round two? Fuck. I’m so glad I worked up the courage to talk to you.

Of course I was nervous. Have you seen yourself? I watched you turn down at least five guys before I opened my dumb mouth to ask about your tattoo. Which is beautiful, by the way.

You’re beautiful.

Yeah.
