“I don’t,” she lied, smirking at me. She knew exactly what I was trying to say, but the bitch was going to make me say it.

Rolling my eyes, I groaned. “We’ve kissed a few times, but I’m in dire need of some intimacy.”

“In other words… you trying to be grown. Masai!” she effused lowly. “Are you saying you’re ready to go to the next base?”

“I am,” I admitted with a quick bow of my head. “Kreed is the only man I’ve been with since undergrad. I’m petrified, but I’m ready.”

“If you’re petrified, how do you know that you’re ready?”

“Koya… Kreed and I had a very, very, very healthy sex life. My appetite for sex is as high as Magic Johnson’s in his prime. I’m used to getting it in a few times a day. Like… there’s never been a time, as far back as I can remember, where me and this man wasn’t getting it on.”

“And you miss that?”

“Shit…Shemisses that.” I pointed down toward my lady parts.

“Oh, wow.” Koya snickered. “I say go for it. I mean, you guys are still getting to know each other, but if the sex is bad, that’s all the ammunition you need to cut him off before it gets too deep.”

“It’s big…” I disclosed. “On our last date, I felt it when he hugged me, and my God.” My eyes rolled back dramatically.

“Big doesn’t mean he can fuck. There are plenty of men out there packingandlacking.”

“You ain’t lying!” I laughed and slapped hands with her. Getting serious, I added, “Lamar and I may not make it past the next few months, but a girl got needs, and I can’t go back there.” I lifted my eyes at the love of my life, running down the field. I knew Kreed had exactly what I needed, but I refused to do that to myself or my bestie between my legs.

“You can…” Koya rebutted.

I laughed. “Absolutely not! The man already had a hard time letting me out of the marriage. If I gave him some, I would never be able to get rid of his ass.”

“You got a point there, although the four below are also a reason you’ll never fully get rid of his ass.” We laughed because, again, she was right. Grabbing my hand to gain my attention, Koya looked me in the eyes. “I say do it. You’re grown. What’s the worst that can happen?”

What’s the worst that can happen?

That’s the same thing I said when I first thought about it. I liked Lamar, but as I’ve shared before, we wanted two different things out of life. However, that was perfectly okay with me because I’m in my fun girl era. We were enjoying each other’s company, and that’s the only thing that mattered to me right now, so sex was the obvious next step. We’d been making out like some little-ass kids, and I needed to get beat through the mattress at this point. I needed some unadulterated and unfiltered sex—the kind that didn’t end with cuddles or pillow talk. I wanted some straight fucking where all I do is slide on my clothes when it was done. I’m not in the market for love right now, but I am willing to get nailed. I had a feeling Lamarwould be okay with what I was offering and what I wanted. And hopefully, he didn’t disappoint.

I had a motive, and since I knew how I wanted to end my night, I decided to be proactive and book a hotel room near the restaurant. Lamar was oblivious to my plans, and that was what I preferred because I’d been trying all day to convince myself that this was really what I wanted. In the event that I changed my mind, I could abort the mission and leave the restaurant the same as I’d arrived.

“You know what you’re having to drink?” Lamar asked.

“I think I’m going to go with the Love Potion. What about you?”

“Old Fashioned for me.” He smiled at the waitress before placing his drink menu down. “How was the game?” he asked as soon as we were alone.

“It was good. They won, and the kids got to do their usual after-game ritual.”

“I know Dolla was happy to have his family there.”

“He loves when the kids come for the game. I think it makes him play harder.” I laughed.

“I’m glad they enjoyed themselves. Was it tolerable for you?”

“It was. I got to see some old friends and catch up.”

“Nothing too intrusive, I suppose?”

“Not at all. In fact, no one mentioned anything.”

After the game ended, I ran into a few of the other wives on my way out of the stadium. The thing I was most worried about was someone bringing up my divorce. Surprisingly, that never happened. It could have been the fact that they hadn’t seen mein a while, but instead of prying, they embraced me with open arms, and we caught up. I genuinely think I was worried for nothing.

“That’s good then.”
