“Yeah. You don’t remember?”

“Girl, hell no.” I laughed.

“It was right after I’d gotten into CRNA school.”

“Oooh…” I sang, remembering exactly what she was talking about. “That was the day we ran into my ex.”

“Yes, and yo’ ass was flirting,” she lied.

“Girl! I was not flirting with that man.”

“Sai, I swear, you were. And I was sitting there like,‘Oh, I know this bitch ain’t flirting with this man, and she got a husband at home.’You were showing every tooth in your mouth.”

“What ex?” Koya questioned.

“Girl…” I waved Jream off. “From college.” Giggling, I rolled my eyes. “The baseball player I dated around the time Kreed started chasing after me.”

“Um. Who is this baseball player?”

Jream smirked as I turned to answer Koya’s question. “You know Johnston Fleming, don’t you?”

“Bitch.TheJohnston Fleming. Fourteen-time All-Star, Johnston Fleming?”

“That’ll be the one.” I grinned.

“Why am I just finding out you dated him?”

“I don’t know.” I shrugged. “Probably because it never went anywhere.”

“Wowwww,” Koya drawled. “That is impressive.”

“He was fine as hell, too, Koya!” Jream added as she swam back toward us. She was having too much fun splashing around in the water.

“Oh, I know he was, Jream. And he’s single…” Koya winked at me.

“Girl, Johnston and I are just old friends. We just so happened to run into him that night. We spoke and shared pleasantries. He went his way, and I continued my night with this one.” I pointed at Jream.

“She’s lying, Koya. He was all like,‘How’s the husband and the kids? You know the kids that was supposed to be mine.’Trying to sound all sexy and shit!” Jream exaggerated.

“He and his wife never did have kids…” Koya recalled. “I wonder why?”

Bringing my champagne flute up to my mouth, I took a sip. “She ended up being diagnosed with breast cancer.”

“That’s right. I do remember hearing about that.”

“Yeah, tragic that they ended up divorcing after spending all of those years together.”

“I mean… so did you and Kreed,” Jream responded.

“Bitch, because that nigga cheated.” I laughed. “Had he not, we would’ve still been together.”

“Back to Johnston,” Koya interjected. “Is he living here now?”

“From what I remember, he said he was.”

She winked. “You should hit him up.”

“Hell nawl. I broke that man’s heart once. There is no way he would fall for that.” I tittered. “Besides, I don’t think dating is in the cards for me right now.”
