I watched him, making sure he knew I meant it.

"I thought that was obvious."

I reached up, rubbing my eyes, suddenly feeling tired.

"I know it doesn't make much sense. I haven't even seen you, but I still want you."

He didn't respond for a long time and when he finally did, it was to reach up and grip the edges of his hood and push it down.

My breath caught in my throat.

Still faced with only his silhouette, I pushed slowly to my feet.

His head was distinctly human-shaped.

He didn't move as I approached him, remaining very still until I reached out and took his hands in mine.

Again, the soft, sweet gasp as I gently turned him into the orange light from outside.

Again, I hadn't known what to expect, but this made sense.

A mostly human face, surrounded by long black hair. His features were soft and somehow innocent with full lips and high cheekbones. And it was hard to tell in this light, but it seemed that his skin was ghostly pale, perhaps even gray.

His eyes though. They were solidly black, surrounded by red veins all over the skin. And they were filled with apprehension.

"You're beautiful," I whispered.

He swallowed and shook his head but didn’t say anything, not even when I leaned in and did what I had been wanting to do for days now.

He remained completely still as I touched my lips to his. They were just as soft as I remembered, just as willing, even though he didn’t seem to know what to do.

When I tilted my head and deepened the kiss slightly, touching my tongue between his parted lips, he drew back with a soft gasp.

I met his wonderous gaze and smiled.

"Again?" I asked.

He nodded and leaned toward me.

I let him take the lead, let him explore the same way I had let him explore my body, but his soft eager movements, the gentle opening of his lips and dart of his tongue was too much.

I pulled back, trying to reign in the lust coursing through my body, aware again that this being was new to all of this.

"Come here," I said, and pulled him toward the bed.

He let me lead him but stopped at the edge as though planning to stay there the way he usually did.

"Not today," I said. "Lay down with me."

He still hesitated.

"We don't have to do anything else," I said. "We'll just lay down."

Finally, when I sat down, he allowed me to pull him down with me.

He crawled onto the bed, still in his cumbersome robe and I didn't mention him removing it because I already knew that I was pushing it.

Even then, he stayed awkwardly on his knees over me as though this was completely unfamiliar and awkward for him.
