Coal took a deep, slow breath and relaxed. All the pent-up worry and stress from a hard few days melted out of him just like that. Just because I was here to say the right thing.
Likewise, I could feel myself healing, love and hope for the future filling all the wounds that I’d been left with.
Maybe we would have issues. After all, no one got through life completely unscathed, but I knew deep in my core that it didn’t matter. We would enjoy the good and bad together.
We were getting the chance to live the life wewanted, not the one that had been dealt to us, and what I wanted was to be right here.
ChapterTwenty-Four
Coal
“We shouldn’t be doing this,” Ember gasped.
I ignored him because he was wrapping his legs around my hips and climbing me like I was a fucking tree. The Redwood nickname had all new meaning now. I laughed, lifting him up and walking him to the wall to better the angle.
My pants were already down, discarded somewhere on the other side of the room, and Ember’s clothes were all off.
Perhaps the most delightful part of him gaining weight was that he didn’t mind me seeing him anymore and the sight of his naked body, all that smooth skin, draped in my arms, thighs flexed around my waist to keep him up, pink nipples hard was enough to nearly undo me.
I pressed my tip to his entrance, not pushing in even though he was desperate for it.
“You sure we shouldn’t be doing this? Because we can stop now,” I teased.
He grinned.
“You bastard,” he moaned, pushing down onto me.
My head fell back as he took me in, engulfing my entire length in his tight, wet heat.
“Fuck,” I groaned, “Ember. You’re so perfect.”
He bit his lip, gripping my shoulders to ride me, his face twisted in concentration and pleasure.
I held on tight, letting him take what he needed.
When his hole tightened around me, his bouncing motions slowing, I watched mesmerized at the look of rapture as it crossed his face. The way his eyes closed and lips parted, the soft, satisfied sounds he made... Watching Ember come was one of my favorite pastimes.
I pressed my face to his neck, inhaling him and then could resist no longer, moving my hips into him until I was coming too, releasing deep within him, just how he liked me to.
His arms came around my neck, holding me tightly so that he wouldn’t fall.
“Don’t knot me,” he panted. “We don’t have time.”
No sooner had he said it than the door to the change room swung open.
“Shit!” Everest shouted, spinning around to shield his eyes. “Guys, what the fuck! There’s like five minutes until the fight starts!”
I pulled out, setting Ember carefully down on his feet.
He scampered around the room, pulling his clothes hastily back on, ignoring the liquid sliding down his thighs.
I licked my lips, watching it. Still panting, I pulled my fight outfit back on.
“All good,” I said when we were dressed. “You can look.”
Everest was bright red, but he gave us both a scathing look.
“You know you’re not even supposed to have sex leading up to a fight,” he said, “let alone immediately before it.”
