ChapterFourteen

It was strange to move away from the serenity of Ember, sleeping peacefully on my couch, and go back upstairs. Like ascending from light and love into anger and danger.
Lambert had entered my home. He had not onlytouchedmy omega, but the image of him pinning Ember would be imprinted in my mind forever.
He deserved to die for what he had done. But Ember had seen enough violence, and on top of that, I had other ideas for the despicable man.
I stepped into the dark stillness of my room, overwhelmed by the other shifter’s scent and the distressed pheromones from the three of us still lingering in the air, making it stale.
Lambert hadn’t moved from where he’d landed on the bed. He was still slumped face down, but I could tell he was still alive, if barely.
Good. That would make moving him easier.
I stepped up to him, unable to keep the grimace from twisting my lips and I spat on his prone form before bending and unceremoniously grabbing him by the ankles and yanking him off the bed.
He didn’t so much as twitch.
I dragged him down the hall. When I reached the stairs, my anger turned to satisfaction as I watched the gratifying sight of his head hitting every step as we descended.
Served him right. And the stairs were carpeted so I didn’t feel too badly about potentially waking Ember up.
It wasn’t until we reached the bottom step that Lambert’s already narrow face pinched even more tightly in a wince.
“Not yet,” I muttered, hurrying through the hall. He slid faster on the smooth tiles, but as I pulled open the front door, he moaned and started to sit up.
Before he properly opened his eyes, I bent and hoisted his large form over my shoulders.
He groaned, trying to push me off, but we were already at my car.
“Too late, buddy,” I laughed as I threw open the trunk.
I threw him inside just as he started to properly come around.
I didn’t think the neighbors were close enough to see into the long driveway, but they were still close enough to hear a wolf howling and screaming. I didn’t need any more trouble than I already had, so it would be best not to alert the police of what I was doing. The system here in Lunar City was too corrupt to get involved in anyway.
In the back of the trunk, I saw the hand wraps I used for training.
Without second guessing myself, I moved.
My hand locked around Lambert’s wrist before he saw me coming.
I hog tied him easily.
It wasn’t until the rope was secured that hefinallyseemed to follow what was happening and his entire body reacted.
He thrashed and a guttural shout tore from his throat.
“Let me go!” he shouted.
I laughed, satisfaction dripping from my voice as he continued to howl.
Then, because he could do nothing but make noise, I bent down, gripping his chin roughly to tilt his face toward mine.
His eyes were bright with fury, but it was no match with how I felt.
“This is what you asked for,” I snarled. “When you entered my home and attacked my mate, what did you expect would happen?”
