“I think it’s a great idea!” Aria chimed in. The rest of the group gave their agreements. Gideon sighed, clearly outnumbered in this.

“All right. Looks like we’re getting hitched this weekend. There will be a lot to do in the meantime.”

Dahlia waved him off. “Leave that to me.”

“Speaking of things to do.” Gideon turned his attention toward Lark and Aria. “I think you two should be in the meeting tomorrow to discuss the current Veil situation—”

Dahlia slapped a hand over his mouth, cutting off his words. “Gideon is talking business, that means it’s officially time for us to leave this party and head to bed.”

“I only meant—” Gideon tried, but she cut him off again.

“Come on, I’m wearing a perfectly good outfit you can destroy.” Dahlia chewed her lip and Gideon let out a low growl.

“Oh my god, get out of here, you two! You’re tainting this joyous experience with your hormones.” Aria plugged her ears.

Gideon swept Dahlia up and the two dashed away. Lark could hear Dahlia giggling as they made their way into the complex. He looked around the remaining group. Everyone seemed to be getting cozy with someone. A busty blonde straddled Peyton. She moaned as he kissed his way up her neck. Lark turned away from their private moment, only to spot Liv and Abigail in the tree line. Their lips clashed in a heated frenzy. The air was heavy with pheromones.

Aria’s hand snaked between Lark’s thighs and his gaze snapped back to her. He groaned and his eyes flicked to her small hand as it massaged his cock beneath his jeans. He collared her neck, pulling her into his lap and sliding his tongue between her lips. Aria dug her hands into his shoulders, pulling him closer. She growled before nipping at his lower lip. He gripped her hips, driving her forward so that she ground against his erection. She gasped and rubbed herself harder. Sapphire eyes peered up at him lustfully. “Wanna get out of here?”

Lark stroked a finger down the front of her throat and she shuddered beneath his touch. “Where did you want to go?”

She bit her lip before smiling up at him. “Home.”

Home. The word struck Lark straight in the chest. Emotion welled within him. His days had always been spent roaming those dark, dreary caves and teleporting to escape whenever he got the chance. He never dreamed he would have a real home, let alone share it with the love of his life. He leaned down, taking Aria’s mouth in a soft kiss. “I love you.” Aria’s blue eyes lit up and she grinned.

“I love you more.”

Lark wrapped her soft hand in his and lifted her to her feet. “Let’s go home.”

ChapterTwenty

Aria munched on a donut as she headed through the complex. One hand gripped the frosted pastry while the other remained interlaced with Lark’s fingers. She peered up at him. Lark was gazing down at her, a smile on his handsome face. “What?”

He smirked at her. “You just look so happy when you’re eating. I wish I could make you smile like that—”

Aria stuffed the remainder of the donut in Lark’s mouth. His eyes bulged in surprise and then softened as he chewed on the sweet chocolatey treat.

“Why is everyone always making fun of me and my love of food?” She wiped the remaining donut residue on her leggings.

Lark swallowed before planting a sugary kiss on her lips. “Mmm.” He pulled away thoughtfully. “Almost as good as the donut.”

Aria smacked him on the arm and he pulled her in close.

Her phone dinged with several messages at rapid-fire succession. Dahlia had been bombarding Aria all morning about wedding planning. Putting a wedding together in under forty-eight hours was going to be a challenge. Aria promised Dahlia she would dive into wedding-planner mode as soon as she and Lark were done with this meeting.

Gideon had called them both in to discuss the recent events and get Lark’s input. Aria still needed to be filled in on a lot of what went down while she was in Scotland. This would be a good chance for her to learn, and Lark’s first opportunity to be a part of a pack meeting. It was a big moment for him.

The room was filled with a majority of the group by the time they arrived. Lark’s presence was met with a mixture of emotions. Some attendees looked on curiously, others seemed nervous, and a few (Aaron in particular) just glared. Aria squeezed Lark’s hand reassuringly. It would take time for tensions in the pack to settle down.

Gideon entered and the energy instantly shifted. “Good morning, everyone. Please take a seat.”

Aria opted for two open seats next to Lucas. He and Lark had spent a good deal of time talking at the bonfire. Maybe he was a future friend for Lark? Aria felt giddy just imagining Lark getting invited to boys’ nights and pack outings. She wanted him to know what it was like to have friends, to be part of a group that wanted nothing but your company.

“Don’t get your hopes up,” Lark whispered in her ear. “There are a lot of people wanting to voice their concerns over Gideon allowing me here.” His eyes scanned the group and she followed his gaze.

“Any chance you can turn that particular ability off and just let people say what they’re going to say?” Aria said. She knew he couldn’t, though. “Who cares what they’re thinking? I bet most of them don’t have the balls to stand up to Gideon’s decision.”

“That one does.” Lark nodded toward Aaron, who wore his cowboy hat tipped low. The wide brim couldn’t hide the deep scowl etched on his handsome features.
